Nigerian Police Detain Inspector After Son Stabbed 23-Year-Old Student To Death

The family of a 23-year-old man, Onyebuchi Ernest Emeka, who was allegedly stabbed to death by the son of a serving police inspector, Kingsley Ogbantu in Warri, Delta State, has cried out for justice.

SaharaReporters gathered that Onyebuchi, who was a Computer Science Student of Oghara Polytechnic, was allegedly stabbed to death by Destiny Ogbantu, in Warri last Friday evening.

Meanwhile, the police have detained the inspector who stayed in barracks near “A” Division and is under the Warri Area Command, after his son fled the scene.

It was gathered that the deceased came to the police barracks when the suspect saw him and confronted him while a serious argument ensued, leading to a fight between both of them.

A source claimed the suspect ran upstairs in the “D” block apartment, picked up a knife and a dagger, chased the deceased, who ran for his dear life until he fell, and then stabbed him countless times.

The deceased was rushed to a hospital, where he died as a result of the bodily injuries he sustained from the multiple stabs.

However, the deceased’s family while speaking with SaharaReporters on Tuesday, demanded justice for the victim.

According to him, the family wants the cop’s son to be prosecuted and be made to face justice.

The source said; “Onyebuchi Ernest was killed by a boy called Destiny Ogbantu in “A” division police barrack Warri Delta State, his Father is a police officer and the police is trying to oppress us because Destiny Ogbantu is a son of a Police officer called Inspector Kingsley ogbantu who work at area command Warri Delta State.

“The situation happened this way, they were fighting at the front of the A division police barrack, Warri, he was stabbed to death with the suspect’s father’s poisonous dagger and the mom of the boy was bragging that it would only cost her money.

“We need the government to bring the killer to justice, because justice must prevail,” the family source added.

Meanwhile, SaharaReporters gathered that the inspector had been arrested and detained by the police on the order of the area commander.

The Delta State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters but refused to speak on the arrest of the officer.

“Yes, the incident happened in Warri and the suspect is at large. That is the only information I have right now, thank you,” he said.
