1. Fuel Scarcity: FG Gives Update, Begs Nigerians

The federal government has appealed to Nigerians to exercise more patience as the fuel scarcity problem continues to linger across the country.

The Minister of State for petroleum, Timipre Sylva who made the appeal in a statement on Sunday made available to newsmen by his media aide Horatius Egua said all concerned agencies are working round the clock to make fuel available as soon as possible.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari appreciates the hardship the fuel scarcity has brought on the citizens and has directed all concerned stakeholders to restore normalcy as soon as possible.

The statement added that the situation and the attendant hardship are regrettable but the government is working towards a lasting solution.

While acknowledging the lapse which caused adulterated fuel to be brought into the country, he said the blame game must be avoided, adding that when normalcy is restored, then investigations will follow and all those found guilty will face the law accordingly.

2. I Lost Confidence In The Way Nigeria Was Being Run By President Buhari As Far Back As 2017/2018 – Tambuwal

The Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal has expressed disappointment in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Though Tambuwal was instrumental in the emergence of Muhammadu Buhari as the President of Nigeria in 2015, the Governor has come out to say that he lost confidence in the way the Buhari government was running the country’s affairs as far back as the year 2017.

He made his position known while speaking on why he has joined and dumped several parties in the course of his political sojourn.

The Sokoto Governor said most of his defections were forced and circumstantial as he had to stand for what he believes is right.

Tambuwal said Buhari’s government came with a lot of expectations but a faulty start and refusal of the President to heed advice set a bad trend of worse things to happen in his administration.

He added that some of them thought the coming of Professor Ibrahim Gambari as the Chief of Staff will make things better, but that has not been the case.

3. Why Nigerians Should Not Vote PDP, APC In 2023 – Kwankwaso

Former Minister of Defence and Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has asked Nigerians to look for a new party to rescue them.

Speaking on Nasara FM, in Kano on Saturday, the lawmaker stated that the two leading political parties in the country, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have nothing to offer Nigerians.

While claiming that the two major parties are made up of envious people, Kwankwaso said they have nothing to show Nigerians and get re-elected in the 2023 general elections.

4. Seven Children Killed By Nigeria Airstrike In Niger Republic

The governor of the Maradi region, Chaibou Aboubacar, on Sunday disclosed that an airstrike of the Nigerian Army targeting bandits killed seven children and injured five others mistakenly in Niger Republic.

Aboubachar while speaking on the development said, “There was a mistake with the Nigerian strikes on the border that resulted in victims on our territory in the village of Nachade.”

“The victims are 12 children, seven of them dead and five wounded.”

5. 2023: Tambuwal Gives Condition That Can Make A Southerner Become Nigeria’s Next President

The Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal says it’s not impossible for a southerner to become the next president of Nigeria in 2023.

The submission comes amidst divided opinions about which region should produce the nation’s next president after Muhammadu Buhari.

Based on the controversial issue of zoning, a section of political stakeholders believe the 2023 presidency should go to the south while another group believes the north should still retain the presidency as zoning is not constitutional.

However, when asked during a recent interview with Daily Trust about the possibility of a southern candidate from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) emerging the next leader of the country should the party zone its ticket to the south, Tambuwal said it depends on the decision of political players and certain fundamental indices.

The Sokoto State Governor cautioned however that any political party that wants to win the 2023 election must do away with sentiments and strategize to present a candidate that can get the people’s vote regardless of the region.

He pointed out that the voting strength of every region in the country plays a critical role in determining election winners.

6. APC Governorship Primary: Oyetola Breaks Silence After Victory Over Aregbesola’s Candidate, Adeoti

The Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, has called on the anointed candidate of the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, Moshood Adeoti and ex-Deputy Speaker, Lasun Yusuf to join him to move the state forward.

Naija News had earlier reported that Oyetola won the ticket of the All Progressives Congress to contest for the second term in office.

Oyetola polled 222,169, Adeoti got 12,921 votes, while Lasun got 460 to place third.

The Osun State Governor while speaking on his victory said it was made possible by members of the party that gave him another opportunity to serve.

He called aggrieved members of the party to join hands with him to deliver outstanding results at the governorship election.

7. 2023: Osinbajo Is Good Presidential Material, That’s Why Nigerians Are Talking About Him – Bayelsa Traditional Rulers

Traditional rulers in Bayelsa State have given a green light for the Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to contest the 2023 presidential election.

The Vice-Chairman of the Bayelsa traditional rulers council, Malla Sasime who spoke on Saturday during the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Angiama-Oporoma Bridge in the state described Osinbajo as a good presidential material.

He added that the name of the Vice President has been on the lips of Nigerians because of his good efforts in governance which is very much appreciated by the people.

The submission is coming at a time when the social media and conventional media space has been awash with rumours about the ambition of the Vice President to replace his principal by contesting the 2023 presidential election.

8. NDLEA: Abba Kyari Linked To ₦3b Tramadol Seizure

The ordeal of a suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari seems not to be ending any time soon with him being linked to a seized large consignment of Tramadol, an illegal drug, in Lagos.

It was gathered that the former head of the IGP Intelligence Response Team failed to report the issue to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

This is coming at a time Kyari was linked to a drug ring operating the Brazil–Ethiopia-Nigeria route.

According to Vanguard, sources close to NDLEA disclosed that the Kyari team had been linked to the alleged seizure of a large consignment of Tramadol in a warehouse at the Amuwo-Odofin area of Lagos.

The source disclosed that the consignment of Tramadol was worth ₦3billion and it was imported into the country by a pharmacist.

9. 2023: Tambuwal Hints On Accepting Vice-presidential Slot

Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has spoken on accepting to be the running mate of a southern presidential candidate.

Reports had emerged during the week claiming that the former Speaker of the House of Representatives had rejected such arrangements.

But in an interview with Daily Trust, the former presidential aspirant stated that his ambition to be president is not a ‘do or die’ affair.

Asked if he was ready to accept a vice-presidential slot, he said: “I am not fixated on being the president of Nigeria; I want that to be clear. I am always ready to support the process that will bring in one of our best.”

Tambuwal however rejected calls by southern governors that the presidency must return to their zone after the expiration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

According to him, he is not bound by the decision of the Southern Governors as he is part of the Northern governors’ forum that rejected it.

10. I Am Ready To Get Dirty With Anyone That Tries To Intimidate Me – Bola Tinubu Warns

Presidential aspirant and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has warned those thinking of intimidating him that he is ready to get dirty.

The former governor of Lagos State gave the warning while speaking during his consultation with the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi and the Olubadan-designate, Oba Lekan Balogun.

Tinubu stated that no matter the intimidation he faces, he won’t halt his 2023 presidential ambition.

Speaking at the Olubadan-designate’s palace in Ibadan, he noted that succeeding Buhari is a life-long ambition, adding that no one can stop him.
