President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered an investigation into the murder of the traditional ruler of the Obudi-Agwa community in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, Ignitus Asor.
Truetells Nigeria reports that daredevil gunmen, on Monday, invaded the traditional ruler’s palace and opened fire on him and four other persons during a meeting.
The monarch, two palace chiefs, and two other members of the community were reported dead in the incident.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, President Buhari condemned the murder of the traditional ruler and other members of his community by gunmen.
The President directed security agencies in the state to thoroughly investigate the dastardly act and ensure that the perpetrators face the full wrath of the law.
Buhari, however, commiserated with the family of the bereaved, the Obudi-Agwa community, and all those affected by the attacks. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.
The President of Nigeria and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari is currently in Jos, Plateau State for the kick-off of the party’s presidential campaign.
The ruling party is officially commencing the campaign of its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, and his running mate, Kashim Shettima.
President Buhari on Tuesday led top members of the party to the campaign ground.
Truetells Nigeria reports that the campaign is ongoing at Ruwang Pam Township Stadium.
President Buhari alongside governors elected on the platform of the party moved from the airport where he was welcomed to the venue of the event.
The likes of Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, Dapo Abiodun (Ogun State), the director-general of Tinubu/Shettima campaign council and Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa State), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos State) and several others were at the airport to receive President Buhari.
The ruling party is hoping to retain power in 2023 at the end of President Buhari’s tenure in office.
The Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has replied former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Chukwuma Charles Soludo, over his explosive letter which faulted his (Obi) administration as Governor of Anambra State.
Recall that Soludo, who currently serves as the Governor of Anambra State, berated Obi’s performance while he was a governor, stating that the investment Obi left in government is worth next to nothing today.
In another publication on Monday, Soludo tackled the presidential candidate, saying he can’t win the 2023 presidential election.
Replying to the former CBN governor, Obi, while addressing elites on Tuesday at the 2022 Lagos Business School (LBS) Alumni Conference in Lagos, said he is praying for Soludo.
The presidential hopeful said he did his little as governor of Anambra State and urged the incumbent governor to also do his best in the state as an economics professor.
Obi, who described Soludo as his brother, said when a government vacates office, another takes over and continues with the other projects left undone.
The reason behind Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s absence on Tuesday in Jos, Plateau State for the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaigns for 2023 has emerged.
Truetells Nigeria earlier reported that Osinbajo was conspicuously missing at the official kick-off of the presidential campaigns by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima.
The event which held at the Rwang Pam township stadium in Jos, the Plateau State capital had many APC stalwarts in attendance as a massive crowd stormed the venue to witness the event.
President Muhammadu Buhari led other party stalwarts including Governors and lawmakers to the campaign ground.
However, following the observation about Osinbajo’s absence at the major party event, the Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande has explained the reason for his principal’s absence.
According to Akande, Vice President Osinbajo is representing President Buhari at the global conference on world tourism holding in Lagos State.
The lawmaker representing the Ikole constituency in Ekiti State, Gboyega Aribisogan has emerged as the new Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly.

His emergence as the new speaker follows the death of Speaker Funminiyi Afuye after suffering cardiac arrest.
Aribisogan, who hails from Ijesha-Isu in Ikole Local Government Area, was sworn in at the plenary this morning by the clerk of the House, Tola Esan.

Ahead of the 2023 elections, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has signed into law a new executive order (order 22) that regulates the kind of building political parties can use as campaign offices.
According to a statement on Tuesday by the Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Alagbo Chris Finebone, the new order comes into effect on Friday.
He added that before any residential building can be used as a campaign office, due permission and approval must be obtained from the Rivers State Commissioner for Urban and Physical Planning.

According to the statement, many public properties in the state have been defaced by the constant posting of banners, bills, and other campaign materials.
