Former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket.

The APC national leader polled 1,271 votes to defeat 13 other aspirants, including a former Transport Minister, Rotimi Ameachi and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who scored 316 and 235 votes respectively.

Truetells Nigeria reports that with Tinubu’s victory, he will square up against PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi and NNPP’s Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Tinubu defeated the likes of Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo; Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation; and Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello; Senate President Ahmad Lawan; Governor David Umahi; Governor Ben Ayade; Pastor Tunde Bakare: Senator Sani Yerima.

2. Police Debunks Viral Whatsapp Note On Alleged Plans By Fulani Terrorists To Attack Lagos State

The Lagos State Police Command has declared that there is no truth in a trending WhatsApp note claiming Fulani terrorists have planned an attack on Lagos State.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin in a statement on Tuesday urged residents and other members of the public to disregard the content of the Whatsapp note.

He added in the statement made available to Naija News that the Police is ever ready in collaboration with other security agencies to protect the lives and property of residents and citizens.

The statement added that those behind the message are only trying to create panic.

3. Tinubu: Atiku Abubakar Calls PDP Governors For Emergency Meeting

Hours after the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Atiku Abubakar is in an emergency with Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Truetells Nigeria gathered that the meeting was called by Atiku, the presidential candidate of the PDP.

The meeting is reportedly holding at the PDP campaign headquarters, Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja.

Notice of the meeting was signed by the Director-General of the PDP Governors Forum, CID Maduabum.

4. Edo Govt Suspends ASUU, Orders Resumption

Union activities across all state-owned institutions of higher learning have been suspended by the Edo State Government.

Truetells Nigeria reports that the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, issued the directive at the State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.

The order is sequel to the protest by students of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, over the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

It was gathered that the Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie, said the affected unions include ASUU, Non-Academic Staff of Universities, Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, Non-Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, and all allied unions operating across all state-owned tertiary institutions.

5. APC Chairman, Adamu Writes Tinubu After Victory

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Adamu, on Wednesday evening wrote to the National Leader, Bola Tinubu following his victory at the presidential primary of the party.

Truetells Nigeria had earlier reported that the former Governor of Lagos State won the election with a high margin between him and the closest presidential aspirant.

Recall that Adamu on Tuesday announced the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan as the preferred candidate of the party.

Adamu in a letter released on Wednesday extended the compliments of members of the National Working Committee (NWC).

According to the former lawmaker, his letter to Tinubu is on behalf of all APC members to congratulate the APC leader on “the sterling victory recorded”.

6. Owo Attack: Your Govt Is Evil And Wicked – Oyedepo Slams Buhari

The Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, David Oyedepo has described the Muhammadu Buhari-led government as evil and wicked.

Truetells Nigeria reports that Oydepo was reacting to the killing of over 30 worshippers at St Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State on Sunday.

In a sermon on Wednesday, Oyedepo recalled how he warned Nigerians against voting in the Buhari government in 2015, describing the APC government as evil from head to toe.

The renowned cleric said Nigeria has never suffered evil like this in its history, calling on Nigerians not to vote the All Progressives Congress (APC) into power in 2023.

7. APC: Lawan Speaks After Tinubu Emerges As Presidential Candidate

Senate President, Ahmed Lawan has congratulated Bola Ahmed Tinubu after he emerged as the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate.

The senate president shared his thoughts in a statement he personally signed on Wednesday.

Lawan stated that he was excited the APC primaries was hitch free, adding that it goes to show the party can run its internal affairs smoothly without any rancor.

He stated that he will work for the success of the party in 2023 while also insisting that Tinubu’s emergence as the party’s candidate shows he is the popular choice and he has no iota of doubt in the wisdom of that decision by the party delegates.

8. Nigeria’s Public Debt Hits N2.04tn in Q1 – DMO

The Debt Management Office (DMO) says Nigeria’s total public debt stock increased to N41.60tn in the first quarter of 2022 from N39.56tn as of December 2021.

In a statement on Tuesday on its website, the DMO said the latest figure shows an increase of N2.04tn within a period of three months.

It said the public debt stock covers the total domestic and external debt of the Federal Government and state governments and the Federal Capital Territory.

The DMO also said the total public debt to GDP is now 23.27 per cent, which is below Nigeria’s self-imposed limit of 40 per cent.

9. My Life Is In Danger – PDP National Secretary, Anyanwu Raises Alarm Over Assassination Plot

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP National Secretary, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, has cried out over alleged attempts by some persons to assassinate him and some of his aides.

The party steward has since alerted security operatives and also informed traditional rulers, religious rulers leaders and the general public in Imo State, particularly of the development.

In a statement signed and issued through his Special Adviser on Media, Ikenna Onuoha, Anyawu alleged the plot for his assassination was hatched because the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) acted on the recommendations of a committee set up to probe the May 26 primaries in Ahiazu Mbaise State Constituency.

The party scribe said some individuals were pained by the cancellation and rescheduling of a fresh primary and issued the threat to kill him in a voice note.

He alleged further that since his emergence as PDP National Secretary, some desperate politicians in the state had used different plots, including blackmail and threats, to run him down.

10. 2023: Tinubu Speaks On Endorsing Muslim-Muslim Ticket

The National Leader and Presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu has denied endorsing a Muslim-Muslim ticket ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
The former governor of Lagos State noted that the text message being circulated at the venue of the party’s presidential primary, the Eagles Square is false.

According to Tinubu, the viral message is the handiwork of shameless, desperate, and misguided individuals.

The text message was denied in a statement released by Tinubu’s media office and posted on his verified Twitter handle.
