Abba Kyari, Dogara, Burna Boy, Okonjo-Iweala, 2Face, 432 Others To Get National Honour [Full List]
President Muhammadu Buhari has listed his late Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari and 436 other nominees for the 2022 National Honours Award.
Truetells Nigeria reports that the investiture is billed to hold on 11 October 2022 at the State House in Abuja.
Among those to be honoured by Buhari are presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, and the Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
According to the list sighted by Premium Times, five persons were listed for Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), 54 for Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR), and 67 for the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON).
Others are 64 for Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR), 101 for Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), 75 for Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR), 56 for Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) and eight for Federal Republic Medal (FRM).
Campaign Council: Bola Tinubu Gives Aisha Buhari, Joke Silva, MKO Abiola’s Daughter, Abike Dabiri, Others Fresh Appointments [Full List]
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has appointed Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari, as the leader of his women’s campaign team.
Truetells Nigeria reports that the First Lady is expected to lead the women’s wing of the party named “Tinubu/Shettima Women Presidential Campaign Team,” to victory as its grand patron.
Also appointed as Chairman and Co-Chairman are Senator Oluremi Tinubu, three-term senator representing Lagos Central and former first lady of Lagos State, and Nana Shettima, the former first lady of Borno State and wife of the APC’s vice-presidential candidate.
This was contained in a statement issued by Rinsola Abiola, daughter of late Chief MKO Abiola.
Rinsola was also named in the media and administrative committees in the women’s campaign team.
Asabe Vilita Bashir, a former member of the House of Representatives from Borno will serve as national coordinator while Lauretta Onochie, a prominent woman within the APC and a senior aide in the Presidency, will deputise her.
Obi’s Supporters Disobey Court Order, Hold Rally At Lekki Toll Gate
Supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, have disobeyed the order of the Lagos State Police Command not to hold a rally at the Lekki toll gate.
Truetells Nigeria gathered that hundreds of youths in their numbers at the Lekki toll gate holding the Independent Day rally against police orders.
It will be recalled that NaijaNews reported that there was a court order that directed supporters of Obi not to hold the rally at the Lekki toll gate.
Some supporters of the Labour Party, according to available reports, were seen marching through, apple junction, Festac and environs in the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos.
Meanwhile, ‘Take Back Naija’, a coalition of support groups, said that the Federal High Court in the state didn’t stop the March, as they got permission to go ahead and conduct the march.
The Co-ordinator of the group, Martins Udegbunam at a press conference on Friday said the court instructed Obi supporters not to converge at the Tollgate but they can pass through the gate.
2023: Bola Tinubu Gives Gov Buni Special Appointment
The Presidential Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, as special adviser on “Party Integration and Reintegration” at the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council.
Truetells Nigeria reports that the Governor’s appointment was made known in a letter personally signed by Tinubu.
According to the APC presidential candidate, Buni’s “appointment is fitting and appropriate” given his impressive political achievement and the exemplary leadership he has demonstrated as governor of Yobe state and as a party member.
Tinubu said: “We are grateful that you have joined our campaign team. We know you will do your utmost in this new responsibility so we conduct an effective, message-driven campaign leading us to victory in the 2023 presidential election.
“Together, not only can we ensure victory for our party in the February 2023 election but we shall also move Nigeria along the path of national greatness by building on the achievements of our party and the President Muhammadu Buhari administration in providing progressive good governance to Nigerians.”
Obidients Defy Rain To Stage Massive ‘One Million March’ On Independence Day
Supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, have taken the bold step to stage their planned ‘1-million man’ march in Lagos.
Truetells Nigeria reports the supporters, mostly youths, defied the rain and marched in their numbers in different parts of the city, which includes, Lekki, Ikeja, Festac and Surulere.
The march, which is currently being held on the 62nd independence anniversary is part of the support for the Obi/Datti 2023 presidential ticket.
A similar march is understood to be going on in Edo State and had previously held in States like Abuja (FCT), Makurdi (Benue State) Afikpo (Ebonyi State), Onistha (Anambra State) and Port Harcourt (Rivers).
Atiku Promises To Support Wike For President In 2027
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday met with the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike in Abuja.
Truetells Nigeria learned that Atiku offered to support Wike’s presidential ambition in 2027 if the Rivers governor supports him in the 2023 election.
This is coming days after the camp of Governor Wike pulled out of the presidential campaign of the PDP following the failure of Iyorchia Ayu to resign as the National Chairman of the party.
As of Wednesday, it appeared like PDP and Atiku were ready to move on with the 2023 race following the inauguration of the campaign council.
However, Atiku and Wike met on Thursday in Abuja, with the former vice president pleading with Wike to prevail on his camp to join the campaign train of PDP.
Sources close to the meeting claimed that Atiku during the meeting offered to support Wike’s presidential ambition in 2027, but Wike said he would consult his group and get back to Atiku.
PDP Crisis: Ayu Blamed For Peter Obi, Kwankwaso’s Exist From Party
The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu has been blamed for the exit of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso from the party.
Recall that Obi upon his defection from PDP joined Labour Party (LP) and emerged as the party’s presidential candidate, while Kwankwaso joined New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and picked the presidential ticket of the party.
A chieftain of PDP, Mohammed Jamo, accused Ayu of being responsible for their defection during an interview on Channels TV.
This is coming at the time that four members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP returned monies paid into their account by Ayu.
According to Jamo, the PDP would have had a walk-over in the 2023 presidential election if Obi and Kwankwaso remained in the party.
He noted that the duo are now a force to contend with in the forthcoming election.
Jamo further stated that Ayu did not appropriately manage the issues that led to the exit of some prominent members from the party.
PDP BoT Members Meet Okowa, To Visit Atiku, Wike Over Party Crisis
Members of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have met with the Vice Presidential Candidate of the party and Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa.
Truetells Nigeria learned that the meeting was held behind closed doors at the Delta State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, on Saturday.
Former Senate President and Chairman of the PDP BoT, Senator Adolphus Wabara, led the delegation to the meeting with Governor Okowa.
Speaking to newsmen after the meeting, Wabara said the BoT members visited governor Okowa in order to find a solution to the ongoing crisis, and also to proffer solutions to those issues.
The former Senate President added that the delegation is on a mission to reconcile aggrieved members ahead of the 203 general elections.
PSC Appoints Two Police DIGs, Promotes 12 CPs To AIGs, Others [Full List]
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment of two Deputy Inspectors General of Police and promoted 12 former Commissioners of Police (CP) to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIG).
Truetells Nigeria reports that these took place during the 15th Plenary of the Commission in Abuja, presided over by Acting-Chairman of the commission, Justice Clara Ogunbiyi (retd.).
The commission also approved the promotion of 417 senior police officers. This was as it approved the promotion examinations for police officers scheduled to start from next year 2023 in line with the Public Service Rules.
The commission approved the appointment of AIG Bello Sadiq, currently AIG Zone 1, Kano and AIG Dandaura Mustapha, AIG Zone 4, Makurdi, to the substantive rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police.
While the new DIG Sadiq was appointed to fill the vacant position of DIG, Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB), DIG Dandaura whose appointment takes effect from October 20, 2022 will be replacing, DIG Sadiq who is expected to retire from the service on the said date.
Nigerians Fume Over Osinbajo’s Cryptic Independence Day Message (Photo)
Some Nigerians on social media have expressed displeasure over the 62nd Independence day message from Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
Truetells Nigeria reports that Osinbajo via his verified social media handle marked Nigeria’s independence anniversary by sharing photos of past Nigerian leaders with the inscription, ‘the Labour of our heroes past share never be in vain.’
However, the photo message did not sit well with many people questioning the VP over his silence on major issues threatening the country, particularly the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike that has lingered for more than seven months.
Others pointed out the similarity between the inscription in the photo and the theme of the Labour Party.
