‘Buhari Has Signed 2022 Electoral Amendment Bill’

President Muhammadu Buhari has signed into law the recently amended 2022 electoral act on Saturday afternoon, a lawmaker has said.

Truetells Nigeria reports that the exclusion of House of Representatives, senate and other politicians from voting in their parties’ primaries by the 2022 electoral act had been a bone of contention for a while.

Both the Senate and House of Representatives had convened last week for an emergency sessions following the omission, where they amended the act to provide for statutory delegates to vote and be voted for in the forthcoming political parties primaries and conventions.

The National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has visited former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

Truetells Nigeria reports Kwankwaso who is also a 2023 presidential aspirant of the NNPP visited the former Nigerian leader in the company of a former ally of President Muhammadu Buhari, Buba Galadima.

This online news platform reports the politicians met at the residence of Chief Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Sharing pictures from the visit which took place on Friday, 20th May, the NNPP on its official Twitter handle wrote; “His Excellency Sen. @KwankwasoRM , PhD, FNSE, Presidential Aspirant and National leader of @0fficialNNPP

in company of Engr. Buba Galadima paid a courtesy visit (20th May, 2022) to Former President Chief Olusegun @Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State.”

The Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong has revealed why he would not support a Northern presidential aspirant under the All Progressives Congress.

Lalong stated this while expressing his support for the former minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.

Amaechi had stormed the state on Friday to seek the support of delegates of the party ahead of the presidential primaries.

Lalong in a statement released on Saturday stated that Amaechi has contributed greatly to Plateau state and would get the support from Plateau leaders, including former Speakers of the House of Assembly, and current state lawmakers.

Former Chief Security Officer to the late former military President of Nigeria, General Sani Abacha, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha has disclosed that he has a list of fifty-six persons “eating Nigeria like termites”.

He added that at the appropriate time, he would reveal their names and identities but currently, the time for that is not ripe.

According to Al-Mustapha, the fifty-six persons are richer than Nigeria as a country and if they go on leave for just six months, Nigeria will make progress.

Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu Asked Me To Drop My Ambition For MC Oluomo – Lagos NURTW Boss

The newly appointed Caretaker Committee Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos State, Fatai Adeshina, aka Akeweje, has said he dropped his ambition to lead the union back in 2019 after the intervention of former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking in an interview with The PUNCH, Akeweje said he was promised the position of Deputy Chairman to drop his ambition but he was not given.

He said all efforts to get that position failed despite efforts to plead with the then NURTW chairman, Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo.

Narrating his ordeal, Adeshina said after eight years of Tajudeen Agbede as the Lagos chairman of the NURTW, a vacancy was advertised for the post of the state chairman of the union for which he obtained the form and contested the seat of the Lagos chairman in 2019.

ASUU Gives Update On Strike As FG Pays Arrears

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Saturday noted that the strike continues despite the Federal Government’s payment of minimum wage arrears.

The union stated this in a circular released by the University of Lagos branch of the union titled, ‘Payment of minimum wage arrears’.

The chairman of ASUU in UNILAG, Dele Ashiru, confirmed the circular.

Ashiru while reacting to the arrears payment said it is not the core demand of ASUU.

2023: APC Chairman Speaks On Tinubu, Others Dumping Party

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu, on Saturday spoke on aspirants vying for political positions dumping the party ahead of the 2023 general race.

According to Adamu, no aspirants will exit the ruling party if they fail in their bid to pick the ticket of the party.

Adamu stated this while addressing a group of party members in the diaspora at a global virtual town hall session.

There are speculations that the national leader of the party who is also a presidential aspirant under the party, Bola Tinubu may dump the party for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) if the primaries scheme against him.

 

2023: Governor Ortom Woos Fayemi To PDP

The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has charged his colleague, the Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi to join the Peoples Democratic Party if the All Progressives Congress messes him up.

Ortom who received Fayemi at the Government House in Makurdi on Saturday said he was working for the emergence of a southern president.

He further stated that he and former governor, Gabriel Suswam who was in attendance would have worked for him if he were in PDP.

Ortom said, “If they mess you up in APC, come to PDP and join us so we can prosecute Nigerians’ agenda.”

The newly appointed Caretaker Committee Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos State, Fatai Adeshina, aka Akeweje, has accused Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly called MC Oluomo, of snatching his second wife.

According to the new NURTW boss, MC Oluomo took his wife from him with the help of popular Nollywood actress and associate, Ronke Oshodi Oke.

He told The PUNCH that MC Oluomo Lodge his wife in one of his hotels in the Oshodi area of Lagos State for over a month.

Adeshina stated that despite settling issues with his rivals such as Kunle Poly, MC Oluomo has refused to resolve issues between them.
