1. DSS Arrest Sheikh Gumi

The Department of State Security Service (DSS) has invited controversial Islamic cleric Sheikh Abubakar Ahmed Gumi for questioning.

According to VOA Hausa, the invitation came after a controversy between Gumi and the Nigerian Army.

The SSS spokesman Peter Afunanya is yet to respond to inquiry to confirm the arrest.

Recall that Gumi, during an interview with ARISE TV, accused the Nigerian military of aiding and abetting banditry in the North.

2. I Will Restructure Nigeria If… – President Buhari Declares

President Muhammadu Buhari has given assurances that he will play his role in restructuring the country if the National Assembly can pass a bill to that effect.

This is as he maintained that the task of restructuring the country involves amending the 1999 Constitution and it has to start from the lawmakers.

Buhari noted that it is the responsibility of the legislators to amend the constitution and they have started the process with regional consultations.

He however assured that once the national assembly can do their part, he would assent to the bill on restructuring.

3. Buhari Postpones London Medical Vacation

President Muhammadu Buhari has postponed his trip to London, the United Kingdom, for a medical follow-up visit.
Truetells Nigeria had reported that the trip was earlier scheduled for today, Friday, June 25, 2021.

But according to a short statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the trip has been pushed forward.

Though a reason for the postponement was not given, Mr. Adesina said a new date will be announced in due course.

4. 2023: Buhari, Tinubu, Governors’ Cliques Put APC In Fresh Dilemma

Scheming by three blocs has placed the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in a fresh dilemma over the zoning of top positions ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Truetells Nigeria recalls that the Adams Oshiomhole-led National Working Committee was dissolved on June 25, 2020, and the Buni-led Caretaker/Extraordinary National Committee was constituted with a mandate to conduct the party’s national convention within six months.

But on December 8, 2020 the tenure of the caretaker committee was extended to allow for membership registration.

The failure of the APC leadership to settle on the zone to produce its national chairman and presidential candidate is reportedly responsible for the delay in organising the convention of the party.

5. JAMB Releases 2021 UTME Results (How To Check Results)

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board(JAMB) has released the results of candidates who sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Truetells Nigeria reports that the released UTME results were for students who sat for the exam on Saturday, 19th and Tuesday, 22 June 2021.

In a statement to newsmen on Friday by its Head of Media, Dr Fabian Benjamin, the exam body revealed that the result for subsequent days would be released daily.

6. Nwaoboshi Dumps PDP For APC [Photos]

The lawmaker representing Delta North in the Senate, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Chairman of the APC Caretaker Committee and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, made this known on Friday when he presented Nawaoboshi to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa.

The APC caretaker chairman warmly welcomed the lawmaker and briefed the President on how they have managed the affairs of the party in the past year.

7. After Buhari’s Denial, FG Rejects Sponsoring Social Media Bill

The Federal Government has dismissed reports that it was behind the bills purportedly meant to gag the press and regulate social media.

Truetells Nigeria had earlier reported that President Muhammadu Buhari through his media aide, Femi Adesina, had denied sponsoring the controversial bill.

Recall that the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, had during the week urged the House of Representatives to include regulation of Twitter in the National Broadcasting Commission Act.

The Minister made the call at the public hearing on a bill to amend the NBC Act organized by the House Committee on Information.

8. APC Members Tried To Hijack 774, 000 Jobs – Keyamo

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, has accused some members of the All Progressives Congress of attempting to hijack the 774,000 Special Works Scheme.

The Minister noted that President Muhammadu Buhari, however, rejected the plan to hijack the employment process by the APC members.

Keyamo stated this during the weekly Ministerial Media Chat at the State House, on Thursday.

The new general overseer of the Synagogue Church of All Nations has emerged, weeks after the founder of the church, Prophet T B Joshua died.

According to African News, the wife of the late founder of SCOAN has been chosen to take over the affairs of the church.

The platform noted that elders of the church met and declared Evelyn the successor to the televangelist.

A top aide of the deceased cleric was quoted saying, “Someone must take charge immediately and give spiritual direction on the mode of service continuity. So much spiritual and financial efforts went into building SCOAN and it cannot just waste away.”

A CCTV footage showing late Nigerian billionaire, Usifo Ataga and his lover, Chidinma Ojukwu at a restaurant before the unfortunate murder incident has surfaced on social media.

Truetells Nigeria reports that Ataga, the Chief Executive Officer of Super TV, and a director in Super Network was gruesomely murdered by his side chic, a 21-year-old student of the Unilag on June 12th
