The Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) on Sunday announced its decision to sell the five power generation companies constructed under National Integrated Power Project (NIPP).
Naija News reports that this was made known by the BPE in a document signed by the Director-General, Alex Okoh, and made available to newsmen.
The BPE asked investors to bid for the 100 percent shareholding of the government in any of the companies.
The document said that it was in continuation of the ongoing reforms of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry and consistent with the Nigerian Electric Power Policy and Electric Power Sector Reform (EPSR) Act, 2005.
It also disclosed that the Board of Directors of Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) and the National Council on Privatisation had approved the sale of the five companies through a competitive bidding process.

Serial rapist and killers, Uduak Akpan, has revealed that he killed and buried Iniobong Umoren, a job seeker in Akwa Ibom State, in a shallow grave at his father’s compound.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige has submitted that state governors not paying the minimum wage are breaching the law of the country.
This is as the Minister noted that the minimum wage bill signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari in April 2019 makes it compulsory for all employers that meet the condition stipulated in it to pay workers the approved minimum wage of N30,000.
Ngige made the submission on Sunday during his appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.
He clarified that the minimum wage is different from the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and any state governor or employer of labour that is not complying with it may be sued by the workers or himself.
The Minister however added that he is still working out the modalities with the Attorney-General of the federation on the next line of action that will be taken against such employers.
President Muhammadu Buhari has announced plans to double the beneficiaries of the N-Power programme from 500,000 to one million.
In a message to commemorate the workers’ day celebration on Saturday, Buhari is also seeking to expand the number of those benefitting from the conditional cash transfer programme to 32 million, from the present 13 million.
According to NAN, he stated that the expansion of the N-Power programme would ensure job creation and poverty alleviation that would in turn cushion the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on Nigerians.

Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has disclosed that officers of the Nigeria Police Force from Yoruba land are with him.
This is coming hours after the police accused the Yoruba nation promoter of attacking its officers during a rally in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Sunday.
Igboho in a statement released through his spokesman, Olayomi Koiki, said they will never fight Yoruba policemen.
Igboho directed all true Yoruba indigenes not to fight the police.
However, he re-echoed that “we do not want the Nigerian government anymore.”
The Nigerian Senate has maintained that the power to sack the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, solely rests with President Muhammadu Buhari.
Naija News reports that Nigerians had called on the Buhari govt to sack Isa Pantami for backing terrorism some years back.
But the presidency vowed not to sack Isa Pantami while insisting that the minister has apologized for his views on Boko Haram, Taliban and Al-Qaeda.
Speaking in an interview with The Punch, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Dr. Ajibola Basiru, said nobody, group or organisation has approached the upper chamber of the National Assembly with any concrete evidence that could warrant the sacking of Pantami.
He also stated that the Senate should not be blamed for clearing Pantami for appointment.
Basiru added that the current controversy around the minister does not constitute any grounds for his sacking which only Buhari had the exclusive power to do.

Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello has labelled the viral social media video of Boko Haram forcefully converting people to Islam as fake.
The Governor spoke after a video emerged on social media alleging that the terrorists are forcing people in some areas of Niger State which they have conquered to forcefully convert to Islam.
The video was shared on Twitter by former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, Naija News earlier reported.
He wrote alongside the video that: “Boko Haram and ISWA forcefully converting people to Islam in the parts of Niger state that they have captured, conquered, occupied and flown their flag.
“This is happening just two hours from Abuja! I warned you.”
However, the Niger State governor has debunked the video as fake, explaining that the video is an old video and the event depicted in it didn’t happen in Nigeria.
Governor Bello also called on Fani-Kayode to delete the video.
