1. 2023: Obasanjo Speaks On Supporting A Presidential Candidate
Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo on Sunday spoke on supporting a presidential candidate ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
Obasanjo while speaking during his visit to the former Head of State, Abdulsalam Abubakar said he does not have a preferred candidate.
The elder statesman, however, stated that he only has a national agenda, not a preferred candidate.
Obasanjo said, “I don’t have a special candidate, I have a national agenda.”
The former President further stated that he was in Minna to visit Abubakar who had been indisposed.
2. 2023: Adeyanju Claims Kwankwaso Is Working For Tinubu, Speaks On Atiku Stepping Down For Obi
Human rights activist and social commentator, Deji Adeyanju has claimed that opposition parties are not yet serious about taking over from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023.
According to Adeyanju, the only way to defeat APC in the 2023 presidential election is for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar, the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Peter Obi and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso to form an alliance and put forward a single candidate.
He however alleged that Kwankwaso is already working for the APC candidate, Bola Tinubu, adding that no politician wants to be identified with failure.

Speaking further, Adeyanju submitted that ideas don’t usually win elections in Nigeria and in Africa generally as the people prefer stomach infrastructure.
3. 2023: Bauchi Gov Drops Deputy, Unveils Jatau As Running Mate
Bauchi State governor and governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bala Mohammed, has dumped his deputy, Baba Kaka Tela ahead of the 2023 race.
Mohammed has picked the lawmaker representing the Zaki federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Mohammed Auwal Jatau, as his running mate.
The development was revealed by Jatau on Sunday while addressing newsmen in Bauchi.
Jatau in his statement appreciated the state Governor for choosing him as his running mate,
He promised to reciprocate the honour by being a loyal and supportive deputy governor.
4. Keyamo Sends Daring Message To All Nigerian Pastors Ahead Of 2023 Elections
The Minister of State for Labour, Festus Keyamo, has sent a message to Nigerian pastors ahead of the 2023 election.
Speaking during an interview with Punch, Keyamo warned pastors to be mindful of political predictions as they might regret the outcome after the 2023 polls
He advised pastors to learn from the 2015 election and avoid throwing their weight behind any presidential candidate.
He insisted that Clergymen must lead people to the kingdom of God and not the presidential villa.
5. Strike: Use Jonathan’s Method To Resolve The Situation – ASUU Advises Buhari Government
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to follow the step of former president Goodluck Jonathan in putting an end to the ongoing strike.
Truetells Nigeria reports that the strike began on February 14, 2022, over the government’s inability to fully address the union’s demands.
The strike has now lasted for 6 months with no end in sight.
The president of the union, Emmanuel Osodeke during an interview with AIT’s Focus Nigeria, stated that during the administration of Jonathan, a 14-hour negotiation occurred to solve the issue.
6. It Is Time For You To Take Charge – Sanwo-Olu Admonishes Nigerian Youths
The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged Nigerian youths to take charge of the future.
Sanwo-Olu stated this on Sunday, during the Year 2022 Children and Youth Harvest Thanksgiving of the Our Saviour’s Church, Diocese of Lagos (Anglican Communion) at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Marina, Lagos, with the theme “Harvest of Restoration and Divine Satisfaction.”
He admonished the youths to participate actively in different activities that are geared toward nation-building, saying leadership is not only achieved when people are elected as governors or presidents but from various roles assigned wherever they find themselves such as in the church.
He added that serving in the house of God is a good foundation for greater career service.
7. Kano Agog As Atiku, Okowa, Lamido Storm North-West State For Shekarau’s Defection
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, on Sunday stormed Kano State to receive a chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to his party.
Recall that Shekarau, a former Kano State governor, was elected Kano Central Senator on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He later fell out with Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, which led to him joining Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso at the NNPP.
However, he fell out with Kwankwaso after some of his loyalists failed to get NNPP tickets to contest elective positions in the forthcoming general elections.
Posting pictures of his arrival in Kano on social media, Atiku wrote, “I just touched down at the Centre of Commerce, Kano State. The next few days are set to be very productive. – AA.”
Naija News reports that Shekarau would be welcome to the PDP on Monday.
8. Katsina: 20,000 APC, NNPP Members Defect To PDP
About twenty thousand members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) on Sunday defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The development boosted the chances of the PDP reclaiming the state in the 2023 general election.
Truetells Nigeria learnt that the event took place in Baure, under the Katsina North Senatorial zone.
The zone is popularly called Daura senatorial zone where President Muhammadu Buhari comes from.
Some defectors are from Mai’adua, Zango and Baure local government areas.
The defectors during the event destroyed their initial party membership cards and burnt the symbol of APC which is the broom.
9. Police Arrest Fake Army Captain In Lagos Over Alleged Theft
A man who was reportedly parading himself as a captain of the Nigerian Army has been arrested in Lagos State by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Naija News reports.
The force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed in a statement on Sunday noon that the suspect, Andy Edwards, was nabbed by detectives of the command after allegedly robbing some ladies of their valuables, including cars.
Hundeyin said the 39-year-old suspect in his last criminal act, paraded himself as a modelling agent, invited the unsuspecting ladies for auditioning and then robbed them of their cars and valuables at gunpoint.
According to the PPRO, Edwards was arrested following a painstaking investigation launched after one of his victims reported the robbery of her Lexus RX330 SUV.
10. After Weeks In Detention DSS Finally Releases Mama Biafra
The Department of State Services (DSS) has released Ukamaka Ejezie, popularly called Mama Biafra, who is said to be the foster mother of the detained leader of outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Truetells Nigeria reports that Mama Biafra, who has been in the DSS detention for several weeks, on Sunday regained her freedom from the custody of security agencies.
Mama Biafra’s release was confirmed in a statement by Nnamdi Kanu’s lead counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor.
