1. Buhari Returns To Abuja From London After Medical Check-up

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Sunday, returned to Abuja from London in the United Kingdom after embarking on a two-week medical check-up.

Truetells Nigeria reports the Presidential jet which conveyed Buhari, landed at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, around 8:30 pm.

In a tweet via his Twitter handle on Sunday, the Special Assistant to the President on Digital Media, Bashir Ahmad, announced Buhari’s return to the country.

“Welcome back, Baba!” Ahmad tweeted, along with pictures of Buhari alighting from an aircraft.

2. ASUU Declares One-day Nationwide Protest Rally

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced that it will embark on a one-day nationwide protest rally over the implementation by the Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government of a “no-work, no-pay” policy for lecturers in the country.

Truetells Nigeria gathered that the nationwide protest rally would hold at the branch level of the union across public university campuses nationwide, with lectures suspended for the one-day protest.

ASUU members across universities are expected to choose a day within the week to hold a special congress and also go on protest rallies within their campuses.

Recalls that the Buhari-led Government had paid only half salary for the month of October to the public university lecturers, who had been on industrial action for eight months and returned to work on October 14.

Confirming the new directive to Nigerian Tribune on Sunday, the chairman of ASUU, University of Lagos (UNILAG) branch, Dr. Dele Ashiru, said UNILAG-ASUU had fixed Tuesday, November 15, for its own rally.

According to him, the protest rally is to draw the attention of Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora to ASUU’s strong dissatisfaction with the Buhari Government’s attempt at casualization of the academics in the country by using ‘no-work, no-pay policy’ to remunerate them.

While insisting that university lecturers are intellectuals and professionals, Ashiru noted that just as other lecturers in other branches of ASUU would do, all members of ASUU, UNILAG branch, are also expected to attend the congress and participate fully in the protest rally.

3. PDP, LP Responsible For Fake INEC Letter Claiming To Probe Tinubu – APC Campaign Council

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP)were responsible for the fake news against his presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

Truetells Nigeria recalls that a document with the letterhead of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had surfaced on social media platforms on Friday, which claimed that the electoral agency is investigating a drug case in the United States involving Tinubu.

However, following the release of the document, INEC, in a statement issued by its spokesman, Festus Okoye, denied that it was investigating the APC presidential candidate, adding that the report is fake and mischievous.

In a statement on Sunday, the Director of Media and Publicity of the APC Campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga accused the opposition parties of sponsoring fake news against Tinubu.

Onanuga said the PDP and the LP have realized they have no sure path to victory in the February 2023 presidential election, hence their campaign of calumny, disinformation, and misinformation.

He stated that Tinubu has promised that the campaign will be about issues that affect the lives of Nigerians and how to proffer workable and enduring solutions that will improve the quality of life of Nigerians.

4. 2023: Kwankwaso, Idahosa Make Promises To Security Agencies, Nigerians

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his running mate, Bishop Isaac Idahosa, have assured security agencies in the country of improved welfare.

This is as they also boasted of giving Nigerians a glorious, better, and hopeful future if elected as president and vice president in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

Truetells Nigeria understands that the duo made the promises today while speaking at a programme tagged “People’s Town Hall Series 2023”, organised by Channels Television.

Kwankwaso and Idahosa said their administration would equip the capacity and improve the welfare of all the security agencies in the country to stem the tide of insecurity.

“I’ll harness all the security agencies in the country and deploy all the technologies available to ensure the safety of Nigerians. We will also improve our security systems to forestall all forms of security breaches,” said Kwankwaso.

On his part, Idahosa reiterated hope that Kwankwaso would win the 2023 presidential election.

The cleric had in a statement issued in Abuja earlier on Tuesday expressed confidence that the Kwankwaso/Idahosa ticket has all it takes to fix the challenges confronting the country, adding that he would address the issue of infrastructure and resource control.

5. Wike Invites Buhari, Peter Obi, Oshiomhole, IGP Usman, Others To Rivers State

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has extended invitations to President Muhammadu Buhari and the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, to inaugurate some projects in the State.

The Governor, who was recently conferred with a Distinguished Award in Infrastructure by President Buhari, also invited a former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Edo Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, for the project inauguration.

Wike is set to inaugurate over 16 completed projects, including world-class multi-billion health and educational projects, from November 14 to December 2nd.

Truetells Nigeria gathered that Buhari would inaugurate the finished and furnished world-class Nabo Graham Douglas Campus of the Nigerian Law School, Port Harcourt, in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, on November 18.

While Peter Obi is scheduled to inaugurate the Nkpolu-Oroworokwo Flyover in Port Harcourt on November 16th, Oshiomhole was invited to inaugurate the Rumepirikon Flyover on November 15.

Also invited is the Emir of Kano, HRH Ado Bayero, to kickstart the series of events by inaugurating a mega health project, Dr. Peter Odili Cancer and Cardiovascular Diseases Diagnostic and Treatment Centre.

The Chief Justice of the Federation will inaugurate the newly completed Federal Judicial Commission Liaison Office and Justice Mary Odili Judicial Institute, while the Inspector-General of Police is scheduled to inaugurate the Police Intelligence Centre.

Other projects in the list had yet to be assigned persons to inaugurate them by the governor.

6. Zamfara Ex-Governor, Yari Speaks On Dumping APC

Former Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari has debunked the reports about him withdrawing his membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Truetells Nigeria understands that the 54-year-old politician holding the Zamfara West Senatorial ticket of the APC for the forthcoming 2023 elections assured his teeming supporters of his loyalty to the ruling during the weekend.

Addressing the party chieftains during a rally he organized at his Talata-Mafara country home on Sunday, Yari told them that formidable strategies had been implemented to kick-start his campaign in a grand style.

He, however, assured that there would be nothing like politics of bitterness, saying that his campaign committee would guide his supporters on how to behave themselves during the campaign periods.

On his part, the state chairman of the APC, Hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani assured the party supporters that there was no faction in the party, saying that all the cracked walls have been amended.

7. 2023 Budget: We Must Ask The Right Questions, Lagos Speaker Tasks Lawmakers

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has called on his colleagues to ensure the proper scrutiny of the 2023 budget.

Obasa stated this on Sunday at a 3-day budget retreat tagged ‘Consolidating the gains of the current administration in Lagos State in a transition year: prospects, opportunities and recommendations’ organized for lawmakers and staff of the Lagos Assembly.

In a statement on Sunday by his media aide, Eromosele Ebhomele, he said the screening of the 2023 budget will help close the gap between the estimated figure and revenue generated.

Obasa tasked the committees of the House to constantly be steps ahead so their members could ask ministries, departments and agencies the right questions during budget defence and oversight.

The speaker, therefore, commended the lawmakers for their passion to ensure the development of Lagos, adding that everyone recognizes what the House has been doing in Lagos.

8. PDP Crisis: ‘Your Plan To Reconcile With Wike, Ortom, Others Belated’ – Okechukwu Fires Atiku

The Director-General of Voice of Nigeria, Osita Okechukwu, has mocked the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, to reconcile with the five aggrieved governors.

Truetells Nigeria reports that Atiku had in a statement on Friday expressed his readiness to mend fences with the governors known as G-5 ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

The PDP presidential candidate expressed commitment to negotiate with the G-5 to resolve the crisis rocking the main opposition party.

This development comes after Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, on Wednesday, while speaking in Bauchi State after meeting with the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, said he and his allies are still open to reconciliation.

Reacting in a statement on Sunday, Okechukwu said the move by the former Vice President to reconcile with the Wike’s group is “medicine after death”, adding that Atiku is not a forgiving politician.

Okechukwu also dismissed Atiku’s late attempt to mend fences with the governors by meeting with General Ibrahim Babangida (retd.) and other retired generals of the PDP.

9. ‘Muslim-Muslim Ticket: Osinbajo, Amaechi, Ngige, Others Won’t Sabotage Tinubu’s Chances’

The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on the National Social Investment Programme to the President and a member of the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Ismaeel Buba Ahmed, says the issue of the Muslim-Muslim ticket fielded by the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been blown out of proposition.

Truetells Nigeria reports that the presidential aide accused the media of over-flogging the issue of same-faith tickets, adding that most Nigerians are not bothered about it.

“I think the media have over-flogged this Muslim-Muslim ticket issue. Nigerians are not as concerned as the media portray them to be. Nigerians are in a situation where they just want a good president.

“That is what matters to them ultimately. And they know they can get it in Asiwaju. People can microscope any kind of differences with the identity of religion, ethnicity, region, custom, or creed, but ultimately, what matters is who is going to drive us in the direction we are going. Tinubu stands tall among his contemporaries. I don’t think this issue of Muslim-Muslim is as pervasive as the media tried to portray it,” he told The Sun.

10. APC Members Are Stashing Away Taxpayers’ Money – LP Campaign Council

The spokesperson for the Labour Party Campaign Council, Yunusa Tanko, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of stashing away taxpayers’ money for election.

Tanko was reacting to a statement made by the Chief Spokesman of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo (SAN), that the ruling party wasn’t running its campaign with stolen funds.
