1. FG Vows To Deal With Nnamdi Kanu’s Collaborators

The Nigerian Government on Thursday noted that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, will not be denied a fair trial.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, stated this during a press conference in Abuja on Thursday on the re-arrest of the IPOB leader.

The minister who threatened that the Federal Government will deal with collaborators of Kanu said, “We can tell you that the forensic investigation carried out so far has revealed a treasure trove of information on the proscribed IPOB leader and his collaborators.”

“While the investigation continues, we assure you that none of the collaborators, irrespective of their standing in society, will be spared.”

2. Sunday Igboho Speaks, Reveals ‘Identity’ Of Those Who Attacked His House

Activist and Yoruba Nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo (Sunday Igboho) has confirmed the invasion of his house in the early hours of Thursday by some gunmen.

Speaking several hours after Naija News previously reported that unknown gunmen attacked the Soka Ibadan residence of the Yoruba Nation freedom fighter, Igboho himself has now spoken out on the incident.

It will be recalled that Igboho’s residence was attacked around 1am by gunmen allegedly dressed in military camouflage.

Speaking on the incident, Igboho told BBC Yoruba that he was in the house when the attack occurred and the gunmen identified themselves as DSS operatives and soldiers.

He added that he peeped from the window and saw their uniform as well.

According to Igboho, the invading gunmen apart from killing people in his compound also destroyed his property and vehicles with gunshots.

3. Drama As Senate Passes Petroleum Industry Bill

There was a mild drama at the plenary on Thursday as the Senate passed the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB).

Truetells Nigeria reports that the lawmakers passed with a provision that granted the use of 30 percent of oil and gas profits of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited to fund oil exploration activities in frontier basins.

The lawmaker had earlier clashed on what percentage of operating expenditure of oil companies should constitute funds earmarked for host communities’ development in the bill.

Senate President Ahmad Lawan said the passage of the historic bill marks a watershed for the 9th Assembly, saying: “PIB demons have been defeated.”

4. Nnamdi Kanu’s Arrest A Classic Operation – Lai Mohammed

The Federal Government on Thursday described the arrest of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, as a classic operation.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, during a press conference on Thursday, said the arrest of the IPOB leader is one of the most classic operations of its type in the world.

The minister commended the security agents for professionalism and diligence towards capturing Kanu.

5. Fuel Subsidy: FG Budgets N900bn For Oil Marketers In 2022

The federal government of Nigeria has estimated that the sum of N900 billion will be paid to oil marketers as fuel subsidies in the country in 2022.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Finance Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed on Thursday at the presentation of the Medium Term Expenditure Framework/Fiscal Strategy Paper for 2022-2024 in Abuja.

She also disclosed the Federal Government has an estimated budget of N13.98trillion for the 2022 fiscal year.

6. 2023: Nigeria Will Gain A Lot With Igbo Presidency – Ekweremadu

Former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, on Thursday, disclosed that Nigeria will gain a lot if an Igbo man takes over from President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

Ekweremadu while speaking with newsmen, said he still believes that the Igbo Presidency will be achieved in the forthcoming general election.

He added that the country as a whole stands to gain stabilization if Igbo’s are given a chance to rule.

7. Nigerian Army Denies Attacking Sunday Igboho’s Residence

The Nigerian Army has debunked reports that its troops attacked the Ibadan home of Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho earlier on Thursday.

Truetells Nigeria reports that this was made known by the spokesperson for the Nigerian Army, Onyema Nwachukwu.

Nwachukwu told PeoplesGazette that he was not aware of the incident on Sunday Igboho’s residence.

He added that the Nigerian Army did not carry out any attack on the Yoruba Nation agitator as claimed.

8. Yoruba Nation Rally: Stay Away From Lagos – Govt, Police Tell Igboho, Akintoye

The Lagos State government has told those agitating for the creation of an independent Yoruba Nation not to hold their planned rally in the state.

The state Commissioner for Information and Strategy Gbenga Omotoso noted that the timing of the planned rally is a wrong one.

He noted that while the Lagos State government recognizes the citizens’ right to peaceful protest, particularly in a democratic setting, the fragile security situation of the state won’t allow such at the moment.

Specifically, the commissioner said the state is still recovering from the effects of the #EndSARS protest and nothing will be allowed to scuttle the peace process.

the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Police has told Yoruba Nation agitators that they won’t be allowed to stage any rally or protest in the state.

The Lagos Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu who gave the warning while addressing newsmen on Thursday, told Sunday Igboho and Banji Akintoye to stay away from the state.

The CP warned further that anyone caught organizing and/or participating in the rally will be dealt with according to the law.

9. Military Kills 73 Terrorists, Rescues 55 Victims In Borno

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has said troops of Operation HADIN KAI killed 73 Boko Haram Terrorists and rescued 55 victims in Borno State.

The acting Director, Defence Media Operations, Brig-Gen Benard Onyeuko, disclosed this to reporters on Thursday during an update of the military’s operations across the country between June 18-30, 2021.

The military spokesman said the operations yielded attendant successes in the various theatres across the country.

He said the troops conducted ambush operations, clearance operations as well as responded to distress calls, repelled terrorist attacks on troops’ locations and dominated the theatre of operations.

The DHQ spokesman said the Air component of Operation HADIN KAI also conducted series of Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance and air interdiction missions to reveal and destroy terrorists’ enclaves as well as their logistic supplies and equipment.

10. DSS Declares Sunday Igboho Wanted, Confirms Killing His Allies

The Department of State Services has confirmed the attack on the residence of Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho, in Soka, Oyo State on Thursday morning.

The secret police also disclosed that two allies of the Yoruba Nation agitator were killed during an operation at his Ibadan residence.

Recall that Igboho had raised an alarm that two people were killed during an attack on his residence in the early hours of Thursday.

There had been claims in some quarters that the activist staged the attack to stir the pity of Nigerians.

The DSS, however, at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday night, confirmed the attack on Igboho’s residence.

The spokesman of the secret police, Peter Afunanya, while speaking with newsmen also paraded no fewer than 12 suspects arrested during the operation.
