Nigerian content creators have claimed that they had started receiving credit alerts from a socio-microblogging site owned by American businessman, Elon Musk, X, formerly known as Twitter.
SaharaReporters observed that #TwitterBlue has been trending and some users have confirmed receiving an email from the social media company, notifying them that some amounts have been credited to their account as Ads Revenue Sharing.
Posting a screenshot of the email on his verified Twitter page on Tuesday morning, a user, @WizkidGallery wrote: Thank You Elon Musk!, appreciating him for keeping to his words.”
In June, Musk announced that Twitter would start to pay content creators for the advertisements displayed in their replies, with an initial payment pool of $5 million.
“Note, the creator must be verified and only ads served to verified users count,” Musk said in a tweet.
𝔸b𝕒𝕫𝕫, is also another creator that claimed he received an alert of N220,345.05 from X. He wrote, “Woke up to receive alert, Thank you Elon.”
Udyszn claimed he was paid $892.37.
A popular platform that promotes basketball, @TalentedFBG claimed that it was paid $92,000 by Twitter.
Another user, @SympllyTHEO also confirmed the payment of money to Nigerian Content creators, he said, “Elon Musk has started paying* Twitter NG influencers go use question finishes us… You’ll see questions like “Who gave birth to you, your mom or Dad?”
Shola, a popular X user said the new policy will favour content creators to get more money for the work done on product adverts.
He said, “The good thing about Elon Musk paying content creators is that a lot of brands will now have to do better with paying these creators to promote them henceforth, because with or without creators running ads with their pages, they’d still be eating good. It’s a good start actually.”
