Nigerian Chess Player, Tunde Onakoya Plays 60 Persons In 24 Hours In Quest For Guinness World Record

Nigeria’s Tunde Onakoya, who is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon without losing a game, has played 60 people in 24 hours.

Truetells Nigeria had reported that Onakoya on Wednesday began an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon without losing a game.

Onakoya, who had taken to his X handle to announce his readiness to embark on the marathon being held in the heart of Times Square, New York City, said that he was embarking on the marathon for the dreams of millions of children across Africa without access to education.

According to Tiltify, Onakoya will play chess for 58 consecutive hours from 10am of April 17 – 8:00pm of April 19 in Times Square, New York City, to break the Guinness World Record.

By 4:53pm on Thursday, his X page handler announced that he has played 60 people in 24 hours, stressing that the target is to raise a million dollars and bring the gift of chess to children across the world.

The post noted that fatigue is naturally setting in but the game must surely continue and therefore called for more support and donation.

The post on Onakoya read, “It’s officially 1 full day of playing continuous chess in our attempt to break the @GWR for longest chess marathon. @CoachShawnMar and I have played 60 games and the fatigue is naturally setting in. But one thing we will not do is stop.

“We will raise a million dollars and bring the gift of chess to children across the world. Your support is needed now, more than ever.

“Tap the link to livestream the attempt and donate, donate, donate. It is possible to do great things from a small place.”
