Nigeria students advised against cyber crime activities

Students from different secondary school across Lagos have been advised to shun cyber crime and its activities as it is a crime against humanity.

This was said at a discussion with students in the police citizens partnership in preventing cybercrime to celebrate National cyber security awareness month (NCSAM).

The Programme which was organized by international center for leadership development Nigeria (ICLDG) in partnership with Nigeria Policing Programme (NPP) with the theme own it , secure it, protect it , educated the participants on the consequences of cybercrime in our society.

Speaking at the event, the operations officer Anti-cultism Lagos command,ASP Stephen Kuti said that the aim of the Programme is to enlighten the students against internet fraud and cybercrime related activities.

He said;

“ We are looking at eradicating cyber crime from the mindset of this young ones.
Our aim is to impart this knowledge into them because whatever they have in their minds now is what they grow up with.
From this tender age if you can correct the impression that it is very wrong to do cybercrime ralated activities, then we must have gone a long way in tackling the menace before it gets out of hand.

It is more possible to cub the excesses of this young people now before they grow up to making decisions of their own

The police can only do the work of protecting life and property by arresting offenders, but it is the duty of prosecution is left for the judiciary to handle.

I think and believe if there are stiff punishments for offenders of cybercrime, the crime will reduce in our society”.

Also speaking the executive director international center for leadership development Nigeria, Felix Iziomoh said that every October is the national cyber security awareness month.

He said ;
“ The essence of this Programme is raising awareness on cyber security especially cyber crime.

Cybercrime is an issue is Nigeria we a looking forward to raise especially for the young ones to know the bad effects and consequences of indulging in such activities.

We have been holding this Programme across the country to Enlighten people on this months activities.

The essence is partnering with NPP and Nigerian policing in bring this message to the people to educate them on how to use their phones positively without doing the wrong things”.
