Nigeria Ranks 9th Country With Fastest Mobile Network

Nigeria has been ranked the 9th country with the fastest mobile network and the 23rd country with the fastest broadband network in Africa.

This was seen in a recent Speedtest Global Index by Ookla, detailing records and figures captured for January 2024.

According to the report, Egypt is ranked the best country in Africa with the fastest broadband speed network while South Africa is the country with the fastest internet connections on mobile in the continent.

Nigeria is ranked as the 93rd country with the fastest mobile network and 142nd country with the fastest mobile network in the world.

The Speedtest Global Index compares internet speed data from around the world monthly.

Meanwhile, the number of Nigerian active internet users reached over 163 million in the last three months of 2023, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

 

 

 

 

 

This was stated in a report released by the agency on Friday, saying that the figures show a 2.29% increment from what was recorded in the third quarter of 2023 and a 5.81% increment from the figure for the fourth quarter of 2022.

 

The report added that the figure of voice subscribers in the country had also increased by 1.32% on a quarter-on-quarter basis in the last three months of 2023.
