The Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC) is set to appoint new members to its Board of Trustees (BoT) following the passing of eight members over time. This decision was made during a pivotal meeting held at the office of President General Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, who also chairs the BoT, in Surulere, Lagos.
According to a statement from Secretary General Prince Olowu Victor Omoniyi, the BoT has dwindled from its original 15 members to just 7 due to these unfortunate losses. The remaining trustees include Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, Isaac Abiodun, Dora Dadugobo-Coker—the sole female member—Ahmed Sheriff, Chief Sunday Adepoju, Ayuba Idris, and Dr. Robson Egwu.
In light of the changes, it was agreed that nominations to fill the vacant positions would be made by the current BoT members, the Elders Council, and the national executive members. This move aims to rejuvenate the leadership and ensure effective governance within the club.
Additionally, the meeting resolved to amend the club’s constitution within the next six months. The goal is to facilitate elections for all existing offices and positions by the end of 2026, ensuring a smooth transition and continued progress for the NFSC.
The steps taken by the NFSC leadership represent a commitment to preserving the legacy of the club and adapting to the evolving landscape of football support in Nigeria.
