Nigeria Customs Service Investigates Alleged Maltreatment in Viral Video

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Seme Area Command, has launched a formal investigation into a viral video showing officers allegedly maltreating some members of the public. The incident, which has sparked widespread criticism, is being thoroughly examined to ensure accountability and justice.

In a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the command, Superintendent Hussaini Abdullahi, the NCS condemned the actions captured in the video, describing them as unethical and inconsistent with the values and operational standards of the Service.

Immediate Action Taken

The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Kayode Kolade, has ordered the immediate withdrawal of the officers involved in the incident. The CAC directed that the officers undergo interrogation to facilitate a detailed investigation.

Comptroller Kolade assured the public of a transparent process, stating, “Decisive disciplinary measures will be taken against any officer found culpable. The findings of the investigative panel will be made public to maintain accountability and uphold public trust.”
