The Niger State Commissioner for Tourism, Ladidi Bosso, popularly known as Mai Alert, has resigned from her position as she prepares to pursue elective office ahead of the 2027 general elections.
TRUETELLS Nigeria reports that Bosso officially exited the state executive council to focus on her ambition of contesting for the House of Representatives seat representing the Bosso/Paiko Federal Constituency.
In her resignation message, she appreciated the Governor of Niger State, Umar Bago, and the state government for the opportunity to serve, while expressing her commitment to advancing the development of her constituency at the national level.
Although a successor has yet to be announced, the Ministry of Tourism assured the public that its operations will continue seamlessly without any disruption.
Bosso’s resignation is in line with a recent directive issued by the Niger State Government mandating all political appointees intending to contest in the 2027 elections to step down from their positions.
The directive was communicated by the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Usman, following the release of the updated electoral timetable by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to the SSG, political appointees seeking elective offices must resign on or before March 23, 2026, to comply with the one-month requirement ahead of party primaries, which are scheduled to begin on April 23, 2026.
