TRUETELLS Nigeria reports that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has removed its Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Benjamin Hundeyin, barely six months after he assumed the role.
Hundeyin was appointed Force PRO in September 2025 as a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), succeeding Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who had earlier been promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police.
During his brief tenure, Hundeyin played a prominent role in projecting the public image of the Nigeria Police Force, spearheading initiatives aimed at rebuilding public trust, strengthening accountability, and modernising police communication through digital platforms.
Disu was appointed Inspector-General of Police on February 24, 2026, following the removal of Kayode Egbetokun, who had held the position since 2023.
However, it remains unclear who will take over as the next Force Public Relations Officer.
The Badagry-born police officer was originally appointed as FPRO by former IGP Egbetokun. He was also recently promoted, on February 3, 2026, from Superintendent of Police to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).
A seasoned police administrator and communicator, Hundeyin holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Language from Lagos State University and a Master’s degree in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan.
Over the years, he has built a career in police public relations and administration. He previously served under former Force Public Relations Officer and Deputy Inspector-General of Police Frank Mba, worked at the Zone 2 Command, and later at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
He also served as spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command.
Later at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. He also served as Spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command.
As of the time of filing this report, the police authorities have yet to provide an official explanation for the decision, and it remains unclear who will replace Hundeyin in the role.
