No fewer than three persons have been confirmed dead while two others were injured in a three-story building that collapsed in Kano State on Friday.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Kano State command which confirmed the incident on Friday said that the building collapse occurred at Kuntau Quarters in the Gwale Local Government Area of the state.
The NEMA territorial coordinator in Kano State, Dr Nuradeen Abdullahi, while confirming the incident and casualty figures on Friday to journalists, said the agency received a distressed call of the incident at about 9:20am.
Abdullahi said, “We received a distressed call today from a good Samaritan that a three-storey building under construction collapsed at Kuntau quarters.
“After receiving the information, we quickly sent our rescue team to the scene.
“So far, five persons were rescued and taken to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, out of which three were confirmed dead, while two victims sustained injury and are receiving treatment.”
