NCAA Bans Wasiu Ayinde From Flying For Six Months Over ValueJet Incident

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has not blacklisted Wasiu Ayinde, also known as Kwam 1, for six months. While there was an incident involving the fuji musician and ValueJet airline on August 5th at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, where he allegedly refused to comply with aviation security protocols regarding a flask containing liquid (which he claims was water), the NCAA has not issued a blacklist.

The NCAA did suspend two ValueJet pilots for breaching safety protocols during the same incident. Kwam 1 has denied any misconduct and claims he was the victim in the situation, according to his media aide on Vanguard News, where he also stated that the airline offered to fly him on a private jet following the incident. The incident is still under investigation by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

A ValueJet flight was delayed after Kwam 1 allegedly refused to comply with aviation security when asked about the contents of a flask he was carrying. He claimed it contained water, but security suspected it was alcohol, which is prohibited on flights.

He allegedly resisted the security personnel, spilled the liquid on them, and then attempted to prevent the plane from taking off.

The NCAA suspended two ValueJet pilots for initiating takeoff procedures without proper clearance, endangering ground staff and other airport users.

FAAN is conducting an investigation to determine the full extent of the incident and whether any further actions need to be taken.

The NCAA is considering placing Kwam 1 on a “no-fly list,” which would restrict his travel on commercial airlines, according to the cable.ng.
