NAFDAC Director of Human Resources Management Joseph Aina Accepts Resignation of Employee Under ICPC Investigation, Raises Suspicions

NAFDAC Director of Human Resources Management Joseph Aina Accepts Resignation of Employee Under ICPC Investigation, Raises Suspicions.

In a scandal rocking the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Director of Human Resources Management, Joseph Aina, has accepted the resignation of an employee who was under investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC). The unfolding events have raised serious suspicions surrounding Aina’s actions.

The controversy began in June 2022 when the ICPC received a petition regarding the illicit sale of a product from a company whose goods had previously been impounded by NAFDAC. This led to the arrest of Barrister Kingsley Ejiofor, the then Director of Investigation and Enforcement, and Temitope Bisuga, an Assistant Chief Regulatory Officer who worked closely with Ejiofor.

During the ongoing investigation, the ICPC required sureties for the release of the detained individuals on bail. Surprisingly, Joseph Aina, despite having four Deputy Directors in his own department, sought assistance from another directorate to provide the necessary sureties. It is suspected that his own staff members declined his request, highlighting a lack of confidence in his actions.

Amidst the investigation, Temitope Bisuga took the unexpected step of tendering his resignation from NAFDAC. Despite having a pending case to answer, Aina approved his resignation, allowing Bisuga to abscond to the United States of America. This decision raises serious questions about Aina’s intentions and possible hidden agenda.

In a recent turn of events, the Director of Human Resources Management, aware that Bisuga had left the country, wrote to the ICPC, urging them to discontinue the case. However, instead of complying, the ICPC demanded the presence of Bisuga’s sureties, Mr. Innocent Obu and Mr. Ismaila Abdulrasaq from the Accounts and Finance department, to produce him. Consequently, these two NAFDAC employees have been diligently attending ICPC proceedings.

The acceptance of Temitope Bisuga resignation amidst an ongoing investigation, coupled with Joseph Aina’s unusual choice to seek sureties from another department, has raised significant concerns. It is imperative that the ICPC thoroughly investigates the Director of Human Resources Management and his actions in this matter to uncover any potential misconduct or ulterior motives.
