While the case is still ongoing, the claimant, Mr Joshua Adigwe who is being represented by Julius Ajibulu Esquire claims that MTN is infringing on his right by making use of his face, body, and photographs, for advertisement without his consent nor a renewal of contract.
The former contract with the claimant, DDB Lagos limited and MTN communications Nigeria limited expired in July 2021. However, MTN communications Nigeria limited designed more ads making use of the claimant’s picture without the consent of the claimant. This further resulted into not paying the claimant nor renewing his contract while the advertisements continued running.
Speaking to a correspondent in Daily Trust, the claimant’s lawyer Julius Ajibulu Esquire reveals that efforts to settle with MTN communications Nigeria limited and DDB Lagos limited has been abortive as both parties are not willing to settle.
The case was brought before Honourable Justice O.O. Ogungbesan at the Lagos State High Court, TBS, Lagos.
Also present in court today Thursday, 3rd of October is F.O. Abiodun, T.O. Ilori appearing for the third defendant, MTN alongside MTN’s legal adviser, Oluseun Odubela.
However, after due processes and agreement by both parties, the case was adjourned to the 6th of November, 2024.
