The ambitious objective of Ekiti State chef Damilola Adeparusi to beat Hilda Baci’s 100-hour cooking marathon completed in Lekki, Lagos State, has sparked discussion among Twitter users.
Adeparusi has set her eyes on a spectacular 120-hour cooking marathon in an effort to top Hilda Baci’s previously unofficial record. Adeparusi is currently surrounded by friends and well-wishers who are eagerly sampling the variety of delicacies she has prepared.
With Hilda Baci’s prospective certification, Lata Tondon, an Indian chef who finished 87 hours and 45 minutes of nonstop cooking in 2019, will lose her title as the world record holder.
Adeparusi’s project has received mixed reviews online in terms of criticism and support. Her endeavor is perceived by some internet users as undermining the accomplishments of a fellow countrywoman. “Anyone supporting the Ekiti cookathon is an enemy of progress,” declared Daniel Regha. Yes, there should be rivalry, and records should be broken, but it is terrible to try to thwart someone’s accomplishment. Before anyone decides to participate in a cookathon, Hilda should be awarded a Guinness World Records certificate.
On the other side, other users applauded Adeparusi for setting out to accomplish such a noteworthy goal. Can you notice the double standard? said Ibrahim Showa in reference to a perceived double standard. They laud Hilda Baci Cookathon and consider it a crime to not support her. They are making fun of and laughing at Dammy in Ekiti while she performs hers.
People have expressed various viewpoints in the online conversations. Adeparusi’s choice of setting and the cuisine she is preparing have drawn criticism from some, while others applaud her fortitude. “I’m seeing people coming up with valid and thoughtful criticisms of that Ekiti cooking thing, and it’s like you people are good oh,” Ehi Enabs said with dislike. I detest it because it is razz. It’s an unsightly setup. Food looks bad. Cooking tools are also unsightly. And it’s acceptable to detest something because it’s razz.
Despite the arguments, many online users have offered Adeparusi their support as she attempts to beat the record for the longest cooking marathon. “Everyone deserves to do whatever makes them happy and put their foot into the map of the world,” said Sola Mathew in support. I’m on your side.
While there are still differing views on Adeparusi’s endeavor, it is obvious that her resolve has ignited discussions and peaked curiosity among online communities. All eyes will be on Adeparusi’s quest to maybe break a record as her cooking marathon progresses.
