What Oba Of Lagos Did When Peter Obi Tried To Visit Him
Meanwhile, Dayo Ekong, chairman of the Labour Party in Lagos, on Monday, explained that Obi made efforts to pay courtesy visit to the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, but was told by the palace that the monarch was not available.
Speaking about Obi’s campaign rally and the criticism that followed the former Anambra governor for not visiting the Oba of Lagos, Ekong, during an interview with Arise TV, disclosed that they were told the monarch was not available to receive him.
Asked why Obi did not visit the Oba, Ekong said, “People should not say what they have no information about. Peter Obi respects culture. He visits traditional rulers in every state before going to campaign.
“In Lagos, he made attempts to see the Oba but was denied access. He wrote to the palace but the palace responded that the Oba was not available to receive him. He cannot then drive to the palace when he’s been told that the Oba is not available.”
