Many worshippers are feared dead while several persons are believed to be trapped in the rubble after a mosque collapsed in Lagos, southwest Nigeria.
The incident happened in the Papa Ajao area of Mushin on Sunday afternoon during the prayer time (Zuhr prayer) and resulted in casualties and injuries.
However, multiple videos seen by SaharaReporters show how some bodies were being recovered from the collapsed building. The number of casualties could not be ascertained when filing this report.
No official statement has been issued by any relevant agency about the incident.
Building collapse is common in Lagos State and many of them are tragic.
SaharaReporters reported that at least 61 buildings collapsed across Nigerian states in 2022.
Lagos State tops the list with a record of 20 incidents, according to the Building Collapse Prevention Guild (BCPG) report.
