A haulage truck belonging to Dangote Cement Company on Sunday afternoon lost control and rammed into buildings in Iseyin town.
The town is the Iseyin local government area of Oyo State.
Dangote Cement Plc is a Nigerian publicly traded multinational cement manufacturing company headquartered in Lagos but with plants or import terminals in some other African countries. It is part of the Dangote Group, which was founded by one of Africa’s richest men, Aliko Dangote.
The accident, which was blamed on brake failure, occurred in the Iseri area of the town.
After the accident, the driver of the truck reportedly jumped out of the vehicle and vanished into thin air for fear of being mobbed.
The truck was said to have suddenly veered off the road, ploughed through buildings and damaged properties in the process.
SaharaReporters gathered that no casualty was recorded in the incident.
Meanwhile, some residents blamed the accident on the road which is said to have slopes.
They called on the government to come to their aid in finding a lasting solution to the problem and prevent a reoccurrence.
There have been growing concerns about the frequent accidents involving Dangote articulated vehicles which have killed people in the different parts of the country.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on January 4 raided the head office of Dangote Group in Lagos in connection with an investigation into forex allocations in the country.
