Data from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) suggest that Ekiti has a total of 988,923 registered voters.

The election is taking in 2,445 polling units across 177 registration areas in 16 local government areas of the state.

Sixteen political parties are represented in the contest for the next governor of the state when incumbent Governor Kayode Fayemi completes his second term in office later in October.

Police In Show Of Force Ahead Of Ekiti Governorship Election

Personnel of the Nigeria Police on Friday held a show of force exercise ahead of the Ekiti State governorship election.

This comes barely 24 hours before the exercise to be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in 2,445 polling units across the state.

How We Will Tackle Vote-Buying, Selling In Ekiti Election – Police

The police on Friday revealed how they intend to tackle the menace of vote-buying and vote-selling during the governorship election in Ekiti State.

In a bid to achieve this, a Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Mr Johnson Kokumo, explained that the police would rely majorly on information gathering.

“The buyer and the seller are always in mutual agreement toward what they intend to do,” he said during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily in Ado, the Ekiti State capital. READ MORE…

Ekiti Guber Candidates Sign Peace Accord Ahead Of Poll

Candidates in the Ekiti State governorship election on Wednesday signed a Peace Accord ahead of the poll billed for Saturday.

They signed the Peace Accord at an event held in Ado-Ekiti under the auspices of the National Peace Committee (NPC) led by a former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (GCFR), who was represented by the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev. Matthew Kukah. READ MORE…
