Data from the World Health Organisation reveals there are 70 Vaccines under development and currently being tested around the world to help combat the spread of COVID-19. Out of the 70 potential vaccines, 3 are already being tested on humans.
The three being tested on humans are as follows;
- Adenovirus Type 5 Vector and is developed by CanSino Biological Inc./Beijing Institute of Biotechnology (A Chinese company)
- DNA plasmid vaccine Electroporation device and is developed by Inovio Pharmaceuticals. (A US-based Company)
- LNPencapsulated mRNA and is developed by Moderna/NIAID (A US-based Company)
Out of the three vaccines being tested on humans, the Adenovirus is already in Phase 2 while the others remain in Phase 1 of the testing stage. It typically takes between 10 to 15 years to get a Vaccine out but Health Organisations across the world are hoping to reduce this to one year due to the urgency of eradicating the COVID-19 virus.
