An officer of the Lekki Conservation Centre (LCC), has been allegedly knocked down by a hit and run driver while carrying out his duties in the early hours of today in Ikate area of Lagos.
According to an eyewitness Identified as Tope who was at the scene of the event said that the officer suffered a dislocation of his leg by a motorist who was accosted for violating traffic regulations.
“Earlier this afternoon, one of LCC Traffic Officers while carrying out his duties was run over and is reported to have suffered a dislocation of his leg by a motorist who was accosted for violating traffic regulations.
One of the passengers in the vehicle Tope, came down and pushed the LCC officer into an on coming vehicle which ran over his leg.” He said
The officer has since been rushed to Ikate Health Centre for X-ray and further medical attention.
Meanwhile, Tope’s friend who was driving the vehicle when he was accosted fled with the car, while Tope has been handed over to Ilasan police Division.
Road users should note that LCC takes the protection and safety of its Staff very seriously and would not hesitate to prosecute such offenders to the full extent of the law.
