A tragic accident on the Oworonsoki-Apapa Expressway in Lagos claimed the life of a female passenger and left six others seriously injured. The incident occurred at New Castle Bus Stop, Gbagada, over the weekend.
According to Adebayo Taofiq, spokesperson for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), a Volkswagen commercial bus (LSD 654 XY) lost control and hit a roadside culvert. The impact ejected a female passenger onto the road, where she was struck by an oncoming articulated truck, resulting in her immediate death.
Six other passengers, including the bus driver, sustained serious injuries, some with multiple fractures. They were promptly evacuated to a nearby hospital by the Lagos State Ambulance Service. The Lagos State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit removed the body from the scene.
