Lagos Seals Popular Ogba Shopping Mall, See Why

The Lagos State Government has sealed Ogba Shopping Mall, a popular complex in the state.

This was disclosed by the spokesperson for the state Ministry of Environment, Kunle Adeshina, in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday.

“Operatives from the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) and KAI (Kick Against Indiscipline) acting on the directives of HC MOE&WR (Commissioner, Ministry of Environment and Water Resources) on Sunday November 5 sealed up the OGBA SHOPPING MALL beside Sunday Market.

“The mall was closed on accounts of filthy environment, Indiscriminate dumping of refuse, lack of waste bin and failure to comply with the rules of Lagos State waste Management Authority (LAWMA),” he said.

In October, the government sealed Mile 12 International Market and Owode Onirin Market along Ikorodu Road for indiscriminate dumping and burning of refuse.

The Commissioner of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, said the markets were sealed in a joint operation by the operatives from LAWMA and KAI.

The commissioner said that he directed that the markets should be sealed. According to him, their environments were sealed over filthy environment, blocked and littered drainages, menace of illegal and indiscriminate parking and abandonment of trucks on the major road, thereby impeding free flow of traffic.
