Lagos Fourth Mainland Bridge Construction To Begin March —Gov. Sanwo-Olu

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced that the construction of the Fourth Mainland Bridge will begin by the end of the end of March or April.

The governor gave the update on the 37km bridge on Thursday in his keynote address during the Lagos West Senatorial District Town Hall Meeting held at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Ikeja, the state capital.

He said the bridge would be constructed in phases and that the third phase would connect Ibeshe to Ita-Elewa junction and later link the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Noting that his administration will need to be creative, Sanwo-Olu said, “We’ve done extensive work on the bridge but we are at the crossroads of where to get the real financing for that kind of project.”

“Our commitment is that within this first quarter, meaning that by the end of March or April, we should break grounds to start the construction of the Fourth Mainland Bridge,” the governor said.

The governor said the bridge will be “built in phases,” noting that the first phase will connect Abraham Adesanya junction to the Waterfront at Badore.

He lamented that there would be some discomfort but promised that those whose properties are demolished in the course of the construction would be compensated.
