Kogi Election: Military Enforces Restriction Of Movement, Tightens Security

As voters participate in the gubernatorial elections in Kogi State this Saturday, the Nigerian Army has initiated comprehensive measures to secure key highways in the capital city and other regions prone to electoral violence.

At the prominent Adankolo Junction in Lokoja, military personnel were observed deploying an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) to block access, conducting thorough vehicle inspections for those involved in election duties.

Residents of Adankolo expressed contentment at the unprecedented presence of military personnel in their community. They believe this proactive measure will reduce election-related violence, a concern that has historically plagued the area.

Meanwhile, Truetells Nigeria reported that Soldiers of the Nigerian Army have reportedly taken over the roads leading to Okene, the hometown of the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.

The action came a few moments before the commencement of the governorship election voting in the state.

Soldiers assigned to election duty intercepted and apprehended individuals in three ‘unusual’ black-coloured security vehicles.

The arrest was made by soldiers who mounted a barricade at Itakpe Junction shortly before Okene’s main town.
