The academy, strategically located in Ososa-Ijebu, is designed to be a practical-oriented film school, offering aspiring actors and actresses opportunities to hone their skills and contribute to the rich tapestry of Nigerian entertainment.
The buzz surrounding the academy intensified with the revelation that Chief Hubert Ogunde’s last son, Owobo Ogunde, played the character of Bashorun in Kunle Afolayan’s trending Anikulapo series. Despite being a corporate professional based in England, Owobo’s debut in the Anikulapo series has sparked significant interest in acting, inspiring many to explore the art form.
Reflecting on the founding principles of Kiraa TV, the television network aims to create a platform that stands out in promoting unique and culturally rich movies, music, events, and various forms of indigenous entertainment. The decision to establish the academy in Ososa-Ijebu aligns with the town’s historical significance as the birthplace of Nigerian theater, notably championed by Chief Hubert Ogunde.
In 2019, Kiraa TV’s debut year, the network launched a variety of short films, feature films, and documentaries, emphasizing the promotion of Nigerian culture and tradition. The establishment of Kiraa Film Academy serves as a natural extension of this mission, providing a practical avenue for nurturing talent and perpetuating cultural heritage.
Strategically located close to Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) and in proximity to Rite Food, the producer of Bigi snacks and drinks, Kiraa TV aims to foster an environment of collaboration and growth with young, talented, and intelligent individuals.
The Kiraa Film Academy offers admission in scriptwriting, acting and presentation, cinematography, lighting techniques, production management, continuity, and directing. Aspiring individuals can secure admission by obtaining an admission form for the sum of ₦5,000, at Oke Ola road, adjacent Sualimon House, Ososa Ijebu, Ogun State.
