Isese Day:Ijo Orunmila hails Sanwo-Olu, others on holiday

Ijo Orunmilla Adulawo Worldwide has commended the Lagos State governor and other South West governors for yielding to the calls to officially recognise and declare officially August 20 every year as Isese Day holiday in their various states, saying the move was in keeping faith with their roles as government that listens.

Making the call at the weekend at their monthly meeting and the rememberance of the founder of Ijo Orunmila Adulawo Worldwide, Late Olorunfunmi Adebanjo Oshiga, the Oluwo of Ijo Orunmila Worldwide, Oluwo Ifagbemi Adedotun Ifajobi, declared that the singular act portrays the governors as leaders that listen, talk and do whatever they pronounce to their constituents.

It would be recalled that Lagos State government and some other states in South West declared August 20 as public holiday in tandem with the appeal from traditionalists to count them worthy as other religions when observing their Isese Day.

“I am happy that Lagos, Oyo, Ogun and Osun State Governments listened to our pleas and declared August 20 as public holiday to enable tradionalists have a day specially dedicated to celebrate Yoruba culture and tradition.

It is a demand that is key to the unity and progress of the state and it’s very important, laudable and worth emulating Governors Sanwo-Olu and all other Southwest governors listen to the calls of the people, especially the traditional worshippers,”Oluwo said.

Meanwhile, like Oliver Twist, the traditionalists, however, request other states like Ondo and Ekiti States to emulate their counterparts and declare August 20 Isese Day each year as public holiday, just as they also
appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to have plan to declare August 20 as Isese Day for the whole country to nationally recognize the day as done for Muslims and Christians in their various celebration.

In the same vein, an appeal has gone to the warring parties in Ilorin, Kwara State to shelve their swords and allow to peace to reign because according to Olori Oluwo Ifagbemi, “we should all learn to live in peace because God that created us has a purpose for creating us together. Everyone has freedom of choosing the religion he or she prefers without causing any rancour or ill-feeling, urging the authority to release Abdul Azeez Adegbola, aka Tani Olorun, who had been imprisoned since the imbroglio started.

The entire congregation of Ijo Orunmila Adulawo also used the opportunity of the occasion to offer prayers for the remembrance of the founder of Ijo Orunmila Adulawo world wide, Late Olorunfunmi Adebanjo Oshiga, just as prayers were offered for the continued peace and stability of the country in general.
