Imo State Assembly Elects New Speaker After Removing Kennedy Ibe

The Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Kennedy Ibe, has been removed, it was learnt.

The House of Assembly then elected Emeka Nduka as its new speaker immediately after the removal of Ibe on Monday

However, details as to the reasons for Ibe’s removal were still yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report, PUNCH reports

Meanwhile, the removal of a speaker by the Imo Assembly is not a strange thing

The impeachment letter was said to have been signed by 19 of 27 Assembly members at the plenary session in November 2020

Due to this, Collins was seen in a viral video spilling kola nuts in anger during a meeting with constituents and pushing down a table angrily after a member of his constituency slammed his performance in office in January

Speaking in Igbo, the young man had stated that Collins shouldn’t re-contest over poor performance

Infuriated by the comment after trying to silence the young man down, the lawmaker angrily pushed the table with refreshments and moved toward the critic
