Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, has suspended the Rector of the state polytechnic (ABIAPOLY), Prof Osonwa Okorie.
The suspension of the Rector was contained in a statement issued by the Governor and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Chris Ezem.
Ikpeazu, who is the visitor to the school, has appointed Haglar Okorie as the new helmsman of the 31-year-old institution in an acting capacity.
No reason was given for the suspension of the former Rector. The Governor said the suspension of the Rector and his replacement were with immediate effect.
The new Acting Rector is an Associate Professor at Abia State University, Uturu, and has a law firm in Aba.
Okorie hails from Ohafia Local Government Area of the state.
