The Labour party candidate in Abia state, Anthony Chinasa-Abiola who won a seat in the state House of Assembly, has dismissed claims he is from the Yoruba ethnic group. There have been speculations that he is a Yoruba man because of the Abiola attached to his name.

In an interview with TVC, Chinasa said he adopted the name Abiola just to support Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour who is the Labour party candidate in the Lagos state governorship election

He said Abiola attached to his name is just a “guy name”
