While the world is waiting to take a joyful leap into the new year, a few countries in the continent of Oceania are already in 2020.
Samoa, Kiribati and Christmas Island, a territory owned by Australia welcomed the new year by 11:00am Nigerian time, while New Zealand saw it in 2020 by 11:15 am.
By 2 pm, much of Australia will have embraced the new year. When it is 4 pm, it will be the turn of Japan, South Korea and North Korea to hug 2020.
China, Philippines Singapore will welcome the 2020 the new year by 5 pm while it will dawn in Thailand, Cambodia and parts of Indonesia at 6 pm.
At 7 Pm, the new year will dawn in Bangladesh while it will do so at 7:15 pm in Nepal. 15 minutes after this, India and Sri Lanka will welcome 2020.
Pakistan will embrace the new year at 8pm while Azerbaijan will welcome it an hour after that only for Iran to have it’s new year begin at 9:30 pm. 2020 will come up in Turkey, Iraq, Kenya and most of Russia by 10 pm while it will happen at 11 pm in Greece, Romania, South Africa, Hungary and some central and eastern European cities.
Germany, France, Italy, Algeria, Belgium, Spain will welcome the new year at the same time with Nigeria at 12 pm while UK, Ireland, Ghana, Iceland, Portugal will do so one after that.
