How to Obtain a Canada Study Permit

As a Nigerian, you will need a Study Permit to school in Canada. The following are steps to achieving that:

How to Obtain a Canada Study Permit

Gain Admission

Before you can get the study permit, you must have been offered admission by a Canadian college or university. In other words, you apply to a university or college of your choice, complete their admission requirements and get an acceptance letter. Once that is settled, you can proceed to apply for a visa.

Apply for a Student Visa

Once you have your proof of acceptance, you can proceed to complete the Canada student visa application online. The application will require your personal information along with supporting documents. This will include your Nigerian passport, photograph, proof of acceptance into a Canadian school, health status report, proof of financial support, police certificates, and academic qualifications. Ensure that you follow the instructions on the website in filling the form and submitting the documents.

Complete VAC Appointments

After submitting the application and paying the required fee, you will be scheduled for the next process at the visa application centre (VAC). This will include your biometrics appointment where your fingerprints and pictures will be taken. You will also be scheduled for your visa interview.

Collect Your Passport

After a successful application, you will be notified when your passport, along with other travel documents, will be ready for collection. You can visit the visa application centre to pick up your documents or have them returned to you via a courier service.

Is Canada Study Visa Worth Going for?

Wondering if it is worth it pursuing your academic and career goals in Canada? The answer is a big YES. Going by the numerous opportunities it offers to Nigerian students, the worth of a degree or diploma obtained from Canada cannot be overemphasized. In addition, there are hundreds of scholarships available to Nigerian students in Canada. You also get to work while schooling to support yourself financially. There is also the opportunity of staying back to work and gain experience after your study. Make that bold move today and start your application process – a move you’d be glad you made.
