The Guinness World Records (GWR) has stated that the cook-a-thon of the newly awarded Nigerian Chef, Hilda Baci, gained so much traction that its website crashed for two days while the event was ongoing.
The platform, which recognises outstanding talents, stated this on its website in a statement in which it confirmed that Baci had broken the record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
GWR stated that her cooking marathon, which was streamed by millions of Nigerians within and outside the country, made its website crash due to the unusual traffic it attracted.
“Hilda’s record attempt took the world of social media by storm, with millions in Nigeria and beyond following her progress via an Instagram live stream,” GWR wrote.
“Hilda’s cook-a-thon was in fact so popular that our website crashed for two days due to the immense volume of traffic we received from her legion of loyal fans.”
Baci’s marathon cooking, which lasted from May 11 to May 15 in Lagos, was attended by hundreds of fans who claimed to admire her courage and strength.
The 26-year-old was confirmed as a world record holder on Tuesday afternoon after breaking Chef Lata Tondon’s 2019 world record. She has set a new world record of 93 hours and 11 minutes.
