Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen have killed Professor Opeyemi Ajewole, a senior lecturer at the premier University of Ibadan, Oyo State.
Ajewole, who was a professor of social and environmental forestry, was murdered at Olororo, Ojoo area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital at around 9pm on Monday.
The gunmen went away with his Toyota Corolla car. He was said to be on his way home when he was attacked, The Nation reports.
A fellow staff of the university confirmed the incident to newsmen, saying: “It’s true. He was killed last night when he was returning home at Olororo area near Ojoo. The incident happened around 9pm and they took away his car.”
The co-staff described Ajewole as a “pleasant person, humble and easy-going.”
