Awudu was gunned down on Friday after about five armed men reportedly invaded the Corpers’ lodge.

Some gunmen have killed a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Samaila Awudu, in Adamawa State, SaharaReporters has learnt.

Awudu was gunned down on Friday after about five armed men reportedly invaded the Corpers’ lodge around 1:30 am at Yolde-Pate in the Yola South Local Government Area of the state.

The NYSC State Director, Jingi Denis, lamented the death of Awudu, saying, “It is a loss to the whole country.

“It’s very sad, we do not know why he was attacked because investigation is ongoing,” he said.

The spokesperson for the state police command, SP Suleiman Ngoruje, also confirmed the incident, but said the police were on the trail of the assailants.

“The Adamawa State Police Command under the leadership of CP Sikiru Akande has ordered an investigation to find out those behind the crime,” Nguroje said.

He described the death as unfortunate, saying, “When the incident happened, the Commissioner of Police drove down to the scene and personally took him to the hospital.”
