This Nigeria news platform understands that The Online Media Editors made the call in a statement signed by its National President, Dr Dozie Nwankodu, and its National Secretary, Omiragwa Akpovoke Treasure Otiti
in Lagos State on Saturday, March 23, 2024.
The association noted that the action of the Soldiers that confirmed Okwuama Community to a desert, “was supposed to be investigated, set up a panel of investigation before razing the entire community down. That goes by various reports flying around on social media because no single civilian is been allowed to visit the scene.
Truetells Nigeria reports that GOMEP in strong terms condemned the killing of soldiers in the Okwuama Community while seeking for succour for the innocent children, aged ones and all others in the community.
It added that “Nigeria Army are supposed to protect innocent citizens and not been at war with harmless innocent civilians and, as such, needed not to be haunted, while the perpetrators of the act may be somewhere hiding and innocent civilians are been displaced.

Let’s allow the innocent fleeing residents, youths, women and children to return to their homes “as hundreds of persons have been made homeless, displaced and suffering as a result of these invasions”, the statement added.
Furthermore, the media group called on the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, the Chief of Defence Staff, and the Chief of Army Staff to prevail on the military task force, to stop further invasions in Okwuama, Delta Community and ensure the civilians who have perpetrated this heinous crime against Soldiers and Okwuama and Okobe community be made to face justice,” the group said.
