Aiyedatiwa Dismisses Entire Political Aide Staff

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has swept out his entire corps of political aides, terminating the appointments of all Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants with immediate effect  a sweeping administrative reset ahead of a planned mass recruitment drive.

The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, confirmed the shake-up on Tuesday, framing it as a deliberate step to sharpen efficiency and strengthen service delivery across the state’s government machinery.

Rather than a simple downsizing, the move sets the stage for a significant expansion. Aiyedatiwa is expected to bring on board approximately 1,000 new aides drawn from all 203 wards across the state’s 18 local government areas — a restructuring that signals both a widening of grassroots representation and a fresh political alignment heading into the next electoral cycle.

In parting, the Governor acknowledged the outgoing aides for their contributions to the state’s development and wished them well in their future pursuits.

The overhaul did not arrive entirely without warning. In the weeks prior, a number of aides had already tendered voluntary resignations, widely seen as early positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections — suggesting the political temperature in Ondo State is already rising well before the campaign season officially begins.
