Gbagada General Hospital Doctors ‘Abandoned’ After ‘Critical COVID-19 Case’

Gbagada General Hospital doctors have been reportedly abandoned after a critical coronavirus  case was confirmed in the hospital.

This news platform learned that a male COVID-19 patient who was admitted at the casualty ward of the renowned Lagos State General Hospital tested positive to COVID-19 after six days on admission.

A report filed by Jameela News, quoted sources at the hospital, to have confirmed that the male patient, whose name was undisclosed was admitted into the Casualty ward of the hospital on Friday, May 29 and tested positive for the virus on Tuesday, June 2nd.

The report said that the COVID-19 patient who was later wheeled out of the casualty unit to the isolation centre in the same hospital had not only exposed health workers to the deadly disease but also other patients who were on admission at the Casualty ward.

According to Jameela News, the Management of the hospital is yet to make any provisions of quarantine for the Gbagada General Hospital doctors who attended to the Coronavirus patient while he was at the casualty unit, at the time of filing this report.

The management, however, ordered the evacuation of patients in the casualty ward to an empty room within the hospital which is not an isolation ward, the report said, adding that although the casualty unit has been shut down, the Gbagada General Hospital doctors who attended to the infected patient and the other health workers they have come in contact with are now at risk of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“The multiplier effect is unimaginable and to make matters worse, the poor staff who came in contact with the COVID 19 patient are worried for obvious reasons,” a doctor told Jameela News source.
