Muritala Alade’s Daring Escape From Political Prosecution

In the high-stakes world of Nigerian politics, Muritala Adedimeji Alade’s story stands out as a harrowing tale of survival, resilience, and the unbreakable spirit of a man who narrowly escaped prosecution and death in a political landscape fraught with peril.

Alade, a seasoned political strategist and former council youth leader, recounts his brush with a meticulously planned prosecution attempt that forced him into hiding and transformed his life into kios.

His political journey began with the dreams of a young idealist determined to reshape his communities. Known for his unflinching commitment to good governance and accountability, Alade rapidly rose through the ranks of local politics, winning the admiration of his supporters and the ire of his adversaries. His indigenous Ibadan heritage endeared him to the grassroot, However, his growing influence and stance against corruption painted a target on his back.

The turning point came in the last quarter of the year 2022 leading up to the 2023 elections after he relocated back from the North back to the south. He spent some of his life in the banking industry. when Alade dumped the national ruling party, All Progressive Congress, he joined the Labour Party and aligned his philosophy with the Obedient. With promises to expose rampant corruption and to empower his constituents with political enlightenment, Alade’s campaign struck a chord with the masses. Yet, behind the scenes, it rattled the established power brokers accustomed to operating in the shadows.

“I knew I was stepping on toes,” those were his anthem anytime Alade went on political campaign. FASNEWS gathered from our sources, his voice tinged with a mix of defiance and relief. “But he didn’t expect that the pushback would go thus far.”

It was a rainy night in July 2023 when a routine drive home turned into ambush. It was an orchestrated attack, meticulously planned to ensure that he would not make it out alive. They came with machetes and clubs, he was brutally beaten and finally got machetted on my head.i was covered in blood
The people I trusted my life with were heroes that night,” he said, his voice thick with gratitude. He was rushed to the hospital.

The aftermath of the assassination attempt plunged Alade into a world of fear and uncertainty. Forced to abandon his family, friends, and political ambitions, he went underground, moving between safe houses while attempts were made to uncover those behind the attack. The isolation took its toll, both physically and emotionally, but Alade remained undeterred. As the Labour Party ward chairman, Alade believed his party won the the 2023 presidential election in his local government contrary to the INEC declaration, he was viciously supporting the election tribunal, he claimed some of his had enough evidences to help his party overturned the INEC declaration. He became a public enemy of the ruling party.

His ordeal underscored the often-overlooked dangers that public figures face in Nigeria’s volatile political landscape, where power struggles can swiftly escalate into deadly confrontations. As Alade plotted his return to public life, he worked tirelessly behind the scenes to secure evidence and rally his supporters, determined to expose the forces that sought to silence him.

Alade’s re-emergence onto the political scene was nothing short of triumphant. In a dramatic press conference held earlier this year, he detailed the harrowing events of his disappearance, revealing shocking evidence of high-level political collusion in the attempt on his life. The revelations sparked public outrage, prompting calls for a thorough investigation and bringing renewed scrutiny to the murky world of political violence in Nigeria.
