Former Senate President, Nnamani Loses Wife

Lady (Mrs) Jane Udewo Amaechi Nnamani, the wife of Nigeria’s former Senate President, Chief Ken Nnamani, is dead.

Mrs Nnamani, who was reportedly in her early 60s, died last Thursday, May 4, 2023, at the National Orthopedic Hospital, Enugu, where she had gone for minor surgery.

SaharaReporters gathered that her death is currently brewing crisis in her family as the husband who is overseas for medical treatment has reportedly not been informed of his wife’s death.

According to a family source, her children overseas were also not aware that their mother was going to the hospital for surgery.

Her last daughter, who is in Enugu, also reportedly did not know that her mother had health challenges until she was declared dead.

Mrs Nnamani was reported to have gone to the hospital for the surgery along with her home help and driver without informing her daughter.

A family source told SaharaReporters that “though she is dead, nobody in the family can announce her demise until her husband sees her body”.

“Again, none of her male children is in the country and the last daughter who is Enugu doesn’t know how to go about it (making the announcement).”

Until her death, the mother of four was a member of the Governing Council of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Enugu, where incidentally she was a final-year doctoral student in Business Management.
