A fire outbreak at Chemical Market in Onitsha, the commercial hub of Anambra State, on Tuesday claimed the lives of at least four persons while others were injured.
Truetells Nigeria gathered that the fire outbreak at the popular Ogbo Ogwu Market was caused by an explosion. The fire also destroyed goods and properties worth millions of naira.
Confirming the incident, the Managing Director of the Anambra State Fire Service, Engr. Martin Agbili, said it affected a section of the market.
Agbili, however, noted that the actual cause of the fire outbreak was yet to be ascertained. He added that firefighters were at the market to put off the fire.
The Transition Committee Chairman of Onitsha South Local Government Area was also at the scene of the incident.
But at the time of filing this report, SaharaReporters could not ascertain if there had been more casualties and destruction caused by the fire.
